It is a cold, grey, damp morning in the midwest. The morning sun struggles to penetrate the thickening clouds, glittering fingers darting though misty gaps... briefly... only to be strangled and beaten back, surrendering to the gathering gloom. The grizzled racer moves his tired and battered body slowly through the mist towards the garage where his dreams lie, waiting for another chance to be fulfilled. There in the corner, under the tarp, rests his soul, waiting to be set free once again. Overhead lights hum and flicker as he gently, lovingly, pulls back the protective blanket covering his joy, his torment... his destiny. As the rig sees light for the first time in what seems an eternity, a flash of sunshine streaks through the window and strikes the chromed handlebars, igniting a fire deep in the racer's gut he thought had been extinguished, never to burn the bowels of his soul again. No. The fire still smolders, and this... this monster of a machine... this tormentor of spirits... this red Rascal Rider... will yet again strike fear in the hearts of common people. This is the day. This is the morning that Rowdy Ray rides again!
This morning (actually yesterday morning) we begin another new race. This one pits a ton of racing talents against each other, all have raced before, some were lonely, and some are double and triple dipping. The new race is titled The Crunch Bunch Munch to 1500 and features the return to racing by a sly veteran who most recently raced as the commander of the TWTA bus. With leather flying helmet and goggles in place, Rowdy Ray gives the Rascal Rider the juice. Joining the Rowdy One are Innuendo Minendo who storms out to an early lead, and the Crunchin' Canadian, Mad Max who settles comfortably into the three hole one day into the contest. Moe follows in the number four spot with the Aquatic White Bird, Swanny running fifth out of the gate. Bringing up the rear is one of TA's Great Danes, the powerful team of Toft / Vold - DK who after seeing his trailing start shouts to the crowd, "It's not how you start. It's how you finish!" Good luck on the road to 1500, gentlemen!
Everyone in the Race to 9000 earns a production award this morning with a shockie going to Baldy18 for his phenomenal 77 that allows him to give cakin on little love tap on the back. The monster tally leaves the Bald One just a tad over 100 wu's behind the misplaced Aggie. The Big Dawg is only two days from paydirt in The Very Very Loooonnnnggg Race to 10,000 that is now severely mis-named. Meanwhile, IJump struggles mightily to get his rigs re-started in time to catch the doggie at the line. It's going to take a near miracle for the Jumping Bean to pull this one out. Somebody dumped a ton of Drano down the wu pipeline from Down Under as a torrent of wu's floods Berkeley's gates from the Awesome Aussie. The 395 from the Pie Guy earns him a triple shockie for the day.
