Today marks the beginning of a new race dubbed The Great 10K CountDown that will allow us to monitor the progress of some of our esteemed crunchaholics as they begin the stretch drive for their quest of the 10,000 wu holy grail. Members of this elite corp of purgement procurers are, from the top, ZeroEffect, also known as Moe_29 to many around these here parts, followed by SoulAssassin who joins our little 10K race while he also competes in the mid-major handicap drag race to 2500, two teamers who thrilled us only ten days earlier as they fought tooth and nail to earn 8K kudos, crt1530 and the human tsunami, DroolMAN!, and bringing up the rear is Major Tom Tarca who although he may be last in the standings this morning, I'd lay money that that's not where he'll end the race. Welcome back to active racing, crunchmeisters, and good luck as you chase down one of the holiest of holy milestone markers.

Captain Scott has ordered all engines to 110% capacity as they enter the stretch drive to the abandoned outpost at FarPoint Station near sector 16000. Engaging warp engines at 110%, while dangerous for a science vessel, allowed the USS Guid to cover an extremely impressive 64 parsecs overnight and begin today's journies only 39 parsecs from the ultimate goal. Still struggling to re-engage the Trans-Poop drives near sector 15836, Captain Skoopa opens hailing frequencies and sends early congratulations to his fellow academy buddy and his fine crew aboard the Guid. Unfortunately for Poopsie, it would appear that the USS Poop's poop core shielding broke down somewhere near sector 15250 so not only did the shipboard disaster drop the Galaxy class cruiser out of warp, they've got one hell of a mess to clean up down in engineering.

Continuing to shake his big doggie booty in the The Very Very Loooonnnnggg Race to 10,000, BigWoofer remains well above the century mark with 123 while his nemesis IJump drops three below at 97, still quite impressive to say the least but not enough to hang with the BigDawg. Fortunately for the Jumping Bean, there's still a very very loooonnnnggg way to go in this contest and plenty of time to mount a charge. Big Crabby starts today's racing only three wu's from his first tournament victory in quite some time in the Kewl and Crabby Race to 6000 while his competition m2kewl thrills the crowd with a 154 wu monster dump. ElFenix's consistency down the stretch is what held the Kewl Dude at bay. It certainly wasn't lack of effort on Kewlie's part. Evil Oscillator remains impressive for a second day in a row with a 40 packet purgement in the Race to 5000 and Ishie and nemur earn smilie awards in the May Mauling to 3500.

As always, there's lots of suspense and drama down in our three drag races. conjur and def are the first two to break the 1K crunch total with conjur squeezing out a few extra wu's to take the lead after both racers were tied at 956 entering yesterday's racing. Crazee breaks 900 but a powerful purge of 142 from Yield through his newly fixed cable connection lands him only a single workunit behind the Houston Cougar. SoulAssassin creeps passed the struggling Poopsie into sixth place and networkman seems poised to start moving through the ranks from the rear. Mad Max lengthens his lead over Fardy while the Tofters and Volders knock one wu from their deficit behind the Ute and the EvaderMan, battling heat problems, sneaks back to within three of yanking back eighth place from the migrooster. The M & M Boys & Some Others Race to Crunch 1000 remains a very tightly knit bunch with Minendo maintaining his numero uno spot, lengthening his lead over Freewolf by two while Crabby and the migrooster battle it out for third position.

Advancements among racers on 4/16 include IJump up 2 to 79, SoulAssassin up 1 to 52, Bigwoofer up 1 to 71, ElFenix up 1 to 73, Dazmite up 1 to 143, Ammocan up 2 to 184, wirelessenabled up 1 to 204, bbarnes up 1 to 148, Nemur up 1 to 177, migroo up 3 to 268, Smokeball up 1 to 20, cakin up 1 to 68, Jwyatt up 1 to 105, paf077 up 3 to 208, Avenger01 up 2 to 223, Corsairpro up 1 to 405.

Thanks for the stats OD. Glad I didn't loose more ground than that as I had two systems down for about 6 hours doing some upgrades. Should be better tomorrow 😀

Guess I should get my XP 1800+ back up. I'm not sure if the problem lies with my SCSI controller (Tekram DC390U3W) or motherboard (EPoX 8KHA+), but I made a bet and have an Adaptec 29160 coming sometime this week. If that doesn't fix it, I'm going back to ASUS motherboards (screw the savings in $$$, I want stability).

Thanks OD! 🙂

Congrats to MMs!! 😀

But I took 6 P2-400s down yesterday, that may be some of the WUs. But today, I plugged in 23 P4-1.6s....... 😀 CAn't hang with the dawg? That may not be accurate...... 😉

You think the lightweights in the new race to 10K will finish before Bigwoofer and I? :Q
