SoulAssasin was placed in the trailing position among the lead racers in The Mid-Major Crunch to 2500 with a Handicapped NWM as the enforcer and he has done just that. Networkman apparently got just a little too close to the Assassinator and look what happened: NWM got knocked all the way back to negative integers. Actually, to make the race a bit more fair to all race participants, networkman graciously offered to accept an additional 500 wu penalty, effectively "breaking his other leg" out of fairness to the spirit of the race. But it'll certainly take some serious crunchmeisterness for NWM to catch the streaking conjur before the checkered flag is dropped.
In the same race, the troubles continue for the defster and his powder blue muscle car with the seriously chromed dual exhaust side pipes. Barely able to break into double digits for yet another day, Yield has unceremoniously bumped the rogue racer down another peg into the third position after chomping on 28 workunits. As if that weren't enough, closing rapidly from behind, now only 33 wu's to the rear, is that Crazee Dude who appears to be totally unaffected by the current bandwither problems at the entrance to Berkeley's wu altar. We have to go another 126 wu's back to find the USS Poop whose reduced production is not due to bandwither problems but to a seriously damaged warp engine that has been totally disassembled under orders from Starfleet Command itself. 🙁
Plenty of excitement in The M & M Boys & Some Others Race to Crunch 1000 where Freewolf has snatched the lead back away from the clenched fists of Innuendo Minendo after turning in 22 workunits. This marks the fourth lead change in this hotly contested race that is still less than 30% complete. Unfortnately for the migrooster, he spends another day in a stationary position waiting for a blocked bandwither lane to open up so he can dump those millions of wu's he has stuck in a queue somewhere. Zappin' Zod is only 79 workunits from the checkered flag in the Race to 10,000 despite drastically reduced throughput while lane42 appears to be relatively unaffected by the constricted arteries flowing towards the west coast of the US.
It would also appear that dawgs are immune to Berkeley Bandwidther Bursitis because BigWoofer remains above the century per day mark, yesterday smoking a personal best 131 in The Very Very Loooonnnnggg Race to 10,000. Meanwhile, IJump has lost his leaps, severely handicapped by the plugged up wu chute. But, a word of warning to the Big Dawg... When Berkeley's troubles subside, and we all know they will, watch out for the monstrous maelstrom of mashed packet-mass that will flow into Berkeley's coffers from the Jumping Bean's still chugging fleet. Crabby has entered the final turn in his race to 6000 with the Kewl Dude, having knocked down that final century post between himself and the checkered flag. His current pace leaves him about seven days from a victory which means that m2kewl needs to put Mr. Fusion to work big-time if he plans on overtaking ElFenix in time.
It looks like some of our races will be forced to conclude under the yellow caution flag...
