The race reporter has decided to stop hiding behind the keyboard and join in on the racing fun. Captain OD and his ship, the USS Ohio have been granted a stay from being junked at the Pergallian shipping boneyard by Starfleet Command and ordered to provide a newly commissioned Universe class starship with a shakedown race to the outpost located at sector 13,000. The newly commissioned vessel, christened the USS Tortoise, is commanded by none other that energetic Frenchman, Captain Paul-Eric Polo, who follows in that long tradition of dynamic French Starfleet captains begun by Jean-Luc Picard. The USS Tortoise is reportedly equipped with STG (Super Trans-Galactic) drives, the latest FTL technologies to be based upon legendary Zephrim Cochrane's warp engine.
Looking first at the Race to Crunch 1000 with a Crazee Twist, the team of Toft / Vold - DK is making a move on the inside, dumping 45 big workunits to pull his fleet ahead of thecool1 and settle comfortably into third place, 50 wu's behind the surging tuffguy. Jerboy has the fleet circling the track again as he closes in on the 500 wu milestone in the Team AnandTech SETI 500 after throwing a big time dump of 17 wu's towards Berkeley. BigWoofer keeps digging up the wu's, yesterday sniffing up a grand total of 57 big ones to stretch his lead even further over the Sinister Oscillator in their Very Very Loooonnnnggg Race to 10,000.
