<soapbox>

Not many smilies in today's thread, through no fault of our fine racing crews. Berkeley's bandwidth problems are becoming chronic. They are truly caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place when it comes to what avenues to pursue to alleviate the problem. Since added bandwidth does not seem to be in their immediate future, a modified client to extract more science from each workunit thereby increasing the amount of time required to process each wu is the most obvious choice. Unfortunately, redistributing the client to over 3.5 million users will undoubtedly cause many to drop the project completely due to the hassles of deploying and re-installing clients, especially those with large fleets. Many would probably also drop the project simply because of the added time required to process each workunit. The project appears to be headed for a crossroad with the only certainty being that they can't continue on much longer like this without affecting some type of cure for their problems.

</soapbox>

Picking up where he left off yesterday, Droolie continues his run through fluidic space, washing an additional 130 wu's down the pipe after yesterday's 215 wu gully-washer. This secondary flood allows the Slobber Guy to capture the crown in one of his two races, Another Race to 6000, edging out the Crunchin' Canadian Mad Max for the privilege of crossing the finish line first. In what seemed an impossible task when the race began, the stunning win hands DroolMAN! his sixth golden K-Key and a little time in the 6K hottub with the most gorgeous race babes in the sport of Seti racing. Congratulations, DroolMAN! Congratulations also to the friendly Canadian Mad Max for his valiant attempt at holding off the human tidal wave.

Today sees the innauguration of two more races. First, migroo decides to double his pleasure by entering his rigs in a personal challenge to reach the 2K milestone by June 1st, 2002, joining networkman as our June Bloomers. Needing approximately 16 wu's per day to meet the challenge, our British Bud certainly has his work cut out for him. Only weeks earlier, migroo was pondering Seti retirement. Today, he has issued himself a lofty challenge and we couldn't be happier that he's decided to remain a big part of this team. Good luck, migroo!

Also returning for a curtain call and encore after their last 3000 wu crunch-off, Captain Izzy and Commander Smoke return to the racing scene racing each other's impressive fleets as they attempt to click off another three grand. Captain Izzy storms out of the gate to take an early 22 wu lead, but the Biloxi Bomber showed the type of mettle he and his fine little army are made of in their last 3000 wu encounter, smoking the track with numerous consecutive 100 wu plus days down the stretch. Let's see whether Izzy can hand Smokeball a little payback for the pasting dealt the Hawaiian during that epic struggle. Good luck, gentlemen!

Advancements among racers on 2/18 include GreatWhiteNorth up 1 to 54, DroolMAN! up 3 to 60, conjur up 5 to 189, Domination up 4 to 207, Karsten up 1 to 248, Avenger01 up 2 to 243, Maku up 1 to 95, Crazee up 1 to 233, BigFatCow up 3 to 258, Kruptikos up 2 to 263, zeruty up 1 to 342, Team Geekender up 13 to 931.

1s, err, 2nd.
Thanks 😀D!

My SetiQueue was down for a long time yesterday. Because I have no reliable Windows systems on my network, I've been running setiqueue inside VMware, running on my Linux server. The thing is, somehow, I completely trashed the server, so badly I couldn't even log in, so I had to reinstall Linux. That broke just about every program I had installed, requiring most to be recompiled. In addition, I had lost my VMware RPM, which sent me on a 3 hour search through my backup CDs. Eventually I found it, but by the time I had my queue back up, All of my SETI clients had finished their WU, causing CPU time to be lost.

Everything's back to normal now.

Congrats! to the Milestone Makers! 😀

Congrats! to the Race Winners! 😀

Thanks! for the stats, OD! 😀

I don't know why there is a smiley beside TWTA, that # is down about 10WUs from what we had been doing. Or maybe it's because I had to shut down Hoss yesterday.....

Thanks OD!

Poor numbers cause I have to take a dump:Q

Hope there is some laxative coming down.😉

Thanks OD 🙂

I do have my work for me, but SETI retirement just isnt an option - this challenge should keep me focussed. 😀

Congrats !to the winner ! 🙂 😀 😎

Electrode : Sorry for your WUs loss... 🙁 I hope it'll never happen again. 🙂

Thanks for the thread OD. 🙂

<< I got units stuck in my queue here too. 🙁 >>

For some reason, my work Q has been clear all week. It hasn't been doing that much volume, 25 WUs uploaded yesterday, but I seem to be flushing fine, since I stopped pointing to OKs and go straight to Berkeley. 🙂

Hmm, I do have a public IP address available.

What is the bare minimum for running a public Q? I don't want to setup any domains or DNS if I an avoid it.

I have 179WUs queued, 91 pending.

Congrats to Droolman and the milestones makers!🙂

Ohio Dude,
Thanks for the stats update and commentary. It's nice to be in a race with Smokeball although with my recent problem with my fleet, it will be a very challenging task just to keep up with the Great Team Smokeball🙂

<< 51) def .....................................7578 / 9 >>

Damn!!! I haven't seen single digits in a LONG LONG LONG time. 🙁 I think OK's proxy has most my WU's on lockdown, and the remote ships that are trying to connect to Berkeley are rarely getting through.

Don't take this as a sign of weakness you bunch of vultures!!! I've got your VECTOR!!! Muhahaha!!!

Congrats to DroolMAN on the race win! 😀

Congrats to the milestoners! 😀

Thanks for the stats, OD! 🙂

This is going poorly. 🙁

I think if Bazerkly ever gets their problems worked out we should have one of the best days ever for the team. I have almost 100 WU's not counted now and the number is growing every day.
