I don't know about anyone else, but I wish that same window of opportunity that opened up last week at this time, would open up again! I have about 122 results stuck in my queue trying to send (even though I had shifted the upload/download time to the "low" usage times), and I keep getting an "Invalid Server Response" error message. :|

Anyone else seeing that or is it just me???? :(

Hey all...just a heads up...

@Home in Lexington, KY is converting to InsightBB next week....and along with it comes DHCP instead of STATIC IP...:(

I may have to remove the Queue offline until I get the details worked out on a dynamic IP....

I've got to get it fixed though...as 443 seems to be the only port I can get out on right now at work! :Q

Poof,

The invalid service response as I recall is a bad WU stuck in the queue.

(Had one last week). :|

Try killing Seti Queue and restarting it and see if that fixes your problem.

Engineer - I just went through my Comcast@Home -> Comcast HIS conversion Wed. night, getting a DHCP address. However, I think the lease may be for 3 or more days (at least that's what it was before the transition when I was running static). So since I don't reboot my linux NAT/router, it's probably as good as static as far as I'm concerned. I'm up on a FreeSCO disk right now, but I may putz with my RH 5.2 over the weekend to get that address in there as static, just to see.

[EDIT: Eponymous - I had a feeling that's what I had - what I call a "stuckee", but a friend of mine said he got a different error for that... I'll get rid of it anyway! Thanks! :D]

Arggg... moving that WU out of the way didn't help.

I'm wondering if this has to do with my internet conversion and something is misconfigured within Comcast's network to not get the correct ACKs back from the SETI data server. :|

I wouldn't be surprised since I didn't have this trouble until AFTER the conversion.... grrrr... :frown:

Just because it's DHCP doesn't mean it isn't static. :) Unless they've changed it I'm on on 3 hour DHCP but because my router is on 24/7 I've had the same IP# since this summer.

Well... Comcast here has always been DHCP. But I never used it. Once the modem was originally setup, I got the IP from the tech's paperwork and it stayed the same unless they ended up stupidly resetting it a few times after denying and then finally admitting to various outages in my area.

The issue now is the fact that their new modems "learn and store" the MAC address of whatever device is attached to it (rather than assigning hostnames) and if that somehow gets screwed up, then you're SOL and need to DHCP for a new address.

SIgh... Based on my past experiences with them, I *should* immediately blame them for the problem, but as I always do, I'll see if anything in my temporary FreeSCO firewall is somehow blocking something. :(

[EDIT: Without actually editing! Sukhoi - I am sending my results for you directly from my machine to OK's queue - and all of this via the same firewall... and they seem to be going okay. So that tells me that there's an issue with my queue and SETI perhaps. I'll relook at my queue settings.]

Wow!

I read Ken Reneris' docs on the different windoze networking options and decided to say what the heck and change the default setting from "WinInetDefault" to "WinSockDirect", since he makes note that this was supposedly "more robust". And guess what? THAT DID IT!

Wooooooooo WHOoooooooooo!!! 121 results are uploading finally! :p

Granted, I'm getting a few timeouts inbetween, but at least I'm not getting the "Invalid Server Response" garbage!

What a PITA. The default ALWAYS worked before this conversion. I'll file this info away for future reference. :)

Hey Poof -- I use a freesco router for my cable modem attached to Comcast too!!

It is really a great option, and I wonder why more people don't go this route instead of those little router boxes.

I don't have anything to add to this thread. Just wanted to express my glee at finding another Freesco user. I thought I was
all alone.

That's cool artemedes! :D

My original firewall was a Red Hat 5.2 machine (that I also cracked RC5 with), but I was never able to get DHCP running on it correctly. Thus I rebooted that box up with the FreeSCO disk and quickly got back on the net after our conversion. Apparently the newer dhcpcd works with RH 6.2 and I wasn't ready to go through an upgrade on that box at this time.

I'm considering slapping my new IP into the RH configs and giving it a go. I do have the gateway & DNS info, so hopefully it'll work okay back as static, assuming a power outage doesn't go beyond my UPS's potential uptime and powers off the cable modem.

I'll see how that goes. :)

Hmm, Houston, we have a problem. It's running for me on my LAN, so the prob must be on the WAN side. I'm gonna reboot, try again in about 5 minutes.

Thanks for the heads up.

Hmm, wonder what is causing this problem. This has happened in the past with other progs I access via the Web (Web based e-mail and remote access). Might be the firewall, it's made by Norton.
