SETI - question about the upcoming 533mhz bus P4s (478s)

will they have a lower multiplier as well, or will intel bump the fsb to reach higher speeds? (like we're doing right now)

MOX, Looks like Intel finally has a platform that is faster that what AMD has. When I read Tom's article this morning I also wonder about the SETI crunching ability of that setup. It should really kick butt, but I would be surprised if it was noticablly faster than the current 2h50min record of the current best crunchers. In other words I doubt that the SETI time will drop below the 2h30m mark.

With the current processors making WU times head down towards and almost below the 3 hour mark, I doubt that Berkeley will allow THAT to continue! 😛

By the time a 2.66GHz 533MHz FSB P4 is out the door this fall, 2.0-2.2GHz Athlon XP's (.13 micron SOI "Barton" core) should be out the door.

Things are definitely heating up, in terms of competition and in terms of process temperature. 😀

Exactly! I'm afraid we're going to see another client "upgrade" in the near future.
