SETI PII Xeon times?

I'm thinking about building a quad PII 400MHz (1mb cache) xeon system, and i was wondering if anyone knows about how long a SETI work unit should take on one cpu?

With the CLI running on 2K advanced server, my dual Xeon II 400 1MB takes ~11-12 hrs/WU/processor for a mid angle range WU.

Crap.. I was hoping for a little better times than that, but I guess those are pretty decent considering it would be running at 400MHz and only a 100MHz FSB. Thanks for the info!

srvblues00, you might get 8 WU a day out of that monster 😉 That would be pretty dang good
considering how slow the new 3.03 clients are.

BTW I didn't see your name on the Team Roster, are you a member of Team AnandTech Seti yet?
We would love to have you join up as a new member if not 😀

srvblues00 - those times are several hours faster than an equivalent PII 400 and about an hour faster than a PIII 450 katmai. The cache is what is making the difference! 🙂

I'm currently on TA with 452 WUs. My username is 93lx. I opened the account 1.19 years ago (hehe) but only have I serisouly been using it in the last 8 months or so. I currently am crunching with a 1GHz athlon OC'd to 1230MHz. It cranks out a WU about eery 6 to 6.5 hours.

Yeah, those times are good for the PII Xeon 400.. hehe the only problem is that I'm used to my athlon! 🙂 oh well.

Ah, great! glad to hear you are 'one of us' 😉
Please let us know if you do that quad xeon, I'd like to hear how it goes.

i'll definately post once i get the xeon system running, but it's looking like it will be about a month down the road. i still have a few parts to round up, as well as the board and 4 xeons. anyone know where i can get a quad board cheaper than $199?
