I noticed some great deals on newegg recently:

8800GTS
8800GT
9800GT

which one of these would be better for boinc + seti ?
Is there a better option ?

how much credit can one expect from adding one of these ?

thanks

Yea keep us posted :).

SETI GPU is so new (it's only been out a few days) that AFIAK we don't have any scores here for it (their maybe else where I haven't looked).

Btw the 8800GTS will be the fastest of those cards, the 9800GT is more or less just a rebadged 8800GT (except the ones which have a die shrunk core, & those will still be the same speed).

Crap.... I found this thread too late. The 512MB version of the 8800GTS (G92 core) is an amazing performer.

I don't know if you plan on overclocking the VC or not, but if you do..... un-link the core and shader clocks and just overclock the shaders. It will save you lots of heat. The memory and core clocks do very little (if anything) to speed the processing. (OK, let me qualify that.... this is true for the CUDA Folding@Home processing)

OMG that 8800 GTS is cheap!:cool:
Although it is the 320MB version.

We seem to have really bad prices here in the UK atm :(.
