Is it possible? My daughters PC is not connected to a home network and does not have a modem (no phone line any where neer). I have a linksys network in a box but it seems to cause issues with my XP box. Plus her system is in the front room . So would I be able to somehow transfer WU's back and forth via a floppy? If so, how? Thanks. I am just trying to put out every WU I can for the TeAm.

Yes, but I STRONGLY suggest CD-RW/CD-R for WU input as they're 350KB each.

You need to download SETI driver, SETI command line software and download about 30WU on a computer with net connection, zip the whole folder, burn the zip file onto CDR then carry it over to PC without connection. Extract the zip file on the computer w/o net. Zipping is important, because otherwise all the files would be "read only" and you have a hassle of having to uncheck it.

Let the computer process all the WU's. Once they're processed each WU folder is shrunk to 30kb or so and you can copy all 30 completed unit on a floppy, bring it back onto a computer with net connection and transmit from there.

OK so would I do this.... I would set up a cache of about 30 on my pc and download them. I would then zip them and move them to my daughters pc. Then unzip them into her seti directory. So now I get confused. Do I clear my cache and download more for me? Then when hers are all done and I put them on a floppy where do I move them?

Yeah once you burn those WU's to CD, erase them from your computer. You won't get a credit for doing same WU's twice.

I'd just make a new folder on your PC named "SETI Xmit" like I do. In the folder you need to place SETI CLI client and SETI driver.

Set the SETI driver config to 0 process, 0 cache. Whenever your daughters machine completes all WU's, erase the folder named "1" in your SETI Xmit folder, dump all the completed work unit folders in there. Launch SETI and hit transmit. Each numbered folder contains WU at beginning and is converted to complete unit when you complete a WU.

I'd keep the SETI on your computer in separate folder to avoid confusion. you don't have to do it that way, but thats how I'd do it.

maybe the reasonthat the linksys card wont work is that the driver in M$ XP is wrong and that you need disk #1 for the proper driver. I have experienced this problem.

Also I have had the problem where I have had to install the card in the first slot next to the AGP card with Linksys.

I have some disks #1 and #2 I can email them 2 u if u want
