OK. My computer is used by both myself and my roommate, each having our own logins for Win2K. When I login, Seti crunches away and there is no problem but when the roomie logs in, Seti Driver starts but will sit on 0.0% and won't crunch. This is a problem that has just started recently and i've had no troubles before. I start Seti Driver with a shortcut in the startup folder for each user both shortcuts pointing to the same target.

I know SetiDrivercan be set as a service, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to do that (and I have't even had that many beers yet:p) Any help to resolve this problem as it sits or to teach me how to install the service, would be greatly appreciated 'cause now I'm only at about 50% uptime.

Put the shortcut in ALL USERS. That should do it.

here is a cheap fix go to start, programs, acessories, systemtools, scheduled tasks, then put the program in there and find and check the box begin at startup and that should work. You might have to look at other options to see what applys in getting it right. But that should do it as I recall you might have to be admin.

Well, I tried the flexinstall and it did give me the service, but I don't necessarily want to have it hidden all the time. I like to have the driver running in the taskbar so I can shut it off when gaming/benchmarking/too damn hot in the apartment, etc.

Putting the shortcut (same darn shorcut I always use) in the ALL USERS folder does start Driver with both logins, but then I have a problem with both users--SetiDriver starts but sits at 0.00%. All the Seti files are in the same program-files folder and have had no troubles 'sharing' before. I went back to my original setup (a shortcut to SetiDriver in each user's startup folder) and I'm back to:
me=crunching
roomie=starts but no crunch

is there a way to manually install SetiDriver as a service?

Just thought of something - where is the directory that the SETI files are in? If it is on your desktop or in your "my docs" or something then his user wouldn't have access to it. That really doesn't explain why it worked before though:eek: Just a though. Does he have Admin rights with his user?

OK. got it fixed but I had to upgrade the roomie to 'power user' (he tends to install some stupid sh*t that I don't approve of so I restricted him). Oh well, thanks for all your help folks, this is a most friendly forum:)
