I'm trying to get seti@home to run as a service but it won't work at all. I used info from this site seti

There's a really easy way to get SETI to run as a service on XP. Just go to Control Panel, Scheduled Tasks, and add a task to run SETI at system startup. 🙂

another advantage of having it run as a service is that it is running while sitting at a login screen. In other words, no need to have anyone log in at the box to run seti, assuming your box comes back up after a power outage, seti will start running immediately.

You'd think that. But it doesn't, as long as you have to log in (and if you don't, I think it causes security problems). The window comes up behind the login prompt (totally hidden) and doesn't appear when you log in. 🙂

Of course, if you start SETI at any other time, the window will come up.
