Outage Notice. Because of nearby building construction there will be an extended power outage this coming weekend. All of our machines will be turned off so there will be no data or web service. The outage will begin Sunday, January 9, at 18:00 PST (January 10, 02:00 UT). We hope to be back up Monday at 08:00 PST (16:00 UT).

Edit - and their up again. 🙂

Yeah! ,building work often takes longer than expected!.

5days worth of WUs should be safe🙂

Btw who remembers the 1week outage we had 3.5yrs ago when someone cut (stole?) their main net pipe!?:Q
I was down to my last few WUs when it finally came back on,that was close! 😉

I sure do. :Q That was a mess. And the resulting bandwidth bottleneck afterwards. Fortunately, I had enough WUs to last through.

I edited my global_prefs.xml to store 1.0 days of work. Should be sufficient, each one takes approx 2 hours...

Couldn't find anywhere else to change that setting.

MmmSkyscraper, you can edit that on the seti-boinc account settings page, i do not believe that setting in in the xml file on your machine will create a lasting change.

I keep mine @ 7.1 days - just in case.

If your PC runs 24/7 you'll want at least 3 days worth to be safe.
I'm sure RD can tell you how thats done in BOINC 🙂

My JSetiDoor queue is always storing at least a 5 days buffer. 🙂

Thanks for the info RD. 🙂

Thanks for that, my 2 crunchers are working 24/7* so I'll bump up to 3 days.

*apart from the 3 freaking power cuts today, and the last was 12 hours after the other two :|

I did try looking on the BOINC site but was obviously in the wrong place. I guess when zaph mentioned the lasting change, he meant if I reinstalled... Plus if I'd done it at the site, I'd only have to do it once, not for every machine, good thing I only have 2! Although more would be nice 🙂

That explains it. I knew I could come in here and get the answer 🙂 Thanks.

Seti Classic and BOINC are back up at this time, but be patient because of the large Number of People who try to connect, it can be difficult to get new Work at this time.

SETI Classic has a 3rd party program called SETI Queue ,its stores WUs so that you can ride out most server outages & internet connection failures. It also serves as a useful central point for mutliple rigs to connect to & check each machines output ,its got lots of stats😀
I'm gonna miss SETIQ when S@H1 ends *sniff*

My Q isn't able to flush yet ,np as I have plenty of WUs left🙂
