(/me decides to pick on ICXRa 😛)

Who is using setilauncher with a dial-up account?
How to get Setidriver to sense a connection and start transmititing then?

I used to double-click on SetiDriver's icon and press the "Transmit" button.
Now I have SetiDriver go through SetiQ, and press "Connect" in the file menu of SetiQ when a dialup connection is established.
BTW, since I see this didn't answer the question exactly, let's just call it a bump for ICXRa 😀

Went down and got a steak.....yep that's what it is!

Bump for new members!

Question about the seti driver. There are 3 settings, high normal and low. What is the difference with these? I am crunching on my home and work computer and when I am using my work computer I have to set this to low otherwise the system bogs down. (PIII 700@800) I do bump it up to high at night. My home computer is set to high (XP1600) without a lot of issues. Does it make that big of a difference? Thanks

The difference between the three settings is not going to be very noticable in terms of work unit production. The main difference is how much it slows down the rest of your computer. I think the biggest improvement in SETI performance is when you change it from Low and Normal. If you change it to High, any increase is negligible, and you can't really do anything else on your computer.

On my Windows ME machine, when it's on Low, SETI uses about 90% of the CPU time. When it's on Normal, it uses about 96% of the CPU. On High, it uses about 98% and the computer becomes very unusable.

On my Windows 2000 machine, SETI is always using 99% of the CPU. 😀

So, I'd recommend leaving SETI Driver on Low, unless you're leaving your computer on overnight, when you might want to bump it up to Normal or even High.

OK. I have been doing that at work. At home I have left it on high and really never notice a difference. Maybe it's my system. Cool though, thanks for the response.
