SETI for Team Anandtech again...

Hello,
Back in August of last year I threw my 800+ work units to Team Anandtech and had to stop working on SETI.

My situation has changed and I may be able to get SETI up and going again. 🙂
I'm not sure if I'm going to put it on my home computer as it is already having hardware problems and the heat from running the cpu 100% all the time wouldn't help. However, I've just sent off an email to my supervisor asking permission to put SETI on the public machines here since they run idle most of the time anyhow. If I get this approved, that will be 12 Pentium machines, 8 PIII 1.0GHz machines, and 3 PII machines. Nothing spectacular but it should help. 😉

I'll post an update if I get this approved. If it isn't, I'll try and contribute some other way.

Coolness, welcome back.

Weather you crunch or not, come hang with us 😀

Hey once a TeAmmate always a TeAmmate whether you are currently crunching or not. 🙂

You are more valuable than the WUs you crunch! So if you get them running that is just a bonus! 😀

Great news if you get them crunching!

Even if you don't, you can always stop by....... 🙂

DAGTA 😀

You lite up my morning!

We have some recent members (or should I say members recently) assimilate large fleets of computers, so if you need some help managing this, there is help available right here in your Team AnandTech Home. 🙂

Good to have you back with us 🙂
Btw what's up with your home rig? (thats the 1st 1 that should be asimilated😉)

Good to have ya back crunching with us but like Crazee said, you never really left!

Hope you get the home PC straightened out. S@H or any other DC project shouldn't cause it to overheat. There's gotta be a problem somewhere. Too much voltage, bad heatsink contact, failed fan, etc.

Thanks everyone.
Currently it's looking like the work PCs will be a no go. 🙁
As for my home machine, it's not really having overheating trouble. I simply figured it was better not to push it since I'm having other trouble lately. I have an Abit K7A-Raid board and I would love to upgrade but I don't have the money. My chipset fan died a few months back and I never replaced it so that probably accounts for some instability. Also, I've had my CD-ROM die on me and now my burner is giving me trouble. It's not likely related to the motherboard but I figure why press a touchy situation. Frequent lock-ups, BSOD, etc.
I just need to get some better/more stable parts and avoid VIA. 😉
Thanks again, I'll see what I can do.

VIA's ok ,my Kt266a runs fine🙂😛

Btw have you swapped out ya RAM to see if that's ok? ,kt133(not kt133a) chipsets run ok without a fan at default speeds, many boards did without.

I haven't tried switching the RAM. I haven't tried much of anything, really. I maintain about 50 PCs at work every day so usually I don't care to work on my own PC when I get home. 😉 Also, I have no money for parts right now so if I mess something up by accident, I'm without whatever I break. I'll probably tinker with it more this coming weekend.

I maintain about 50 PCs at work every day so

So you know a bit about PC's then?😉
Btw I know what you mean ,I'm a mechanic by trade ,but I struggle to get around to work on my own car😉 ,fortunatly its been pretty good recently🙂
