Seti driver question

Hi, I need a little help please. I took the GUI clients off my 2 computers and put the CLI on. In the Ready to Transmit: field, it says 1, do I have to do anything to get it to go? Does it wait until all 10 are done? I have the cache set to 10. My stats seem stuck at 17 so I was wondering if I have it all set up right. Auto transmit is checked since I have a cable always on connection. Thanks for any help 🙂

If you have auto transmit on, that's odd... Like Migroo said, try clicking Transmit, maybe the SETI servers were down when it tried to send the WU in, or maybe there was a problem with your Internet connection at the time or for whatever other reason, it couldn't get through. If you still have no luck after pressing Transmit, try using Orange Kid's proxy server by clicking the little Proxy Server radio button, then entering orangekid.teamanandtech.com in the Host field, and the 5001 as the port.

Has it finished transmitting now? Has your transmit quese returned to 0?

If all went well, then check SETI stats in about 10 minutes (give them time to update) to make sure that they recieved the WU, and then you'll know its ok 🙂

Fingers has a good point, I use this at work where we have dial-up to make sure that WU download hasnt timed out! 🙂

You can also just look at the SETI Driver icon - when it's transmitting, it's a green dish. When it still has WUs to return, it's the yellow one you say before. And then there's red (and upside down), which means SETI Driver has no WUs to process.

Sorry this is so confusing to me 😕! The one it's working on now is 45% done, but this CLI has been on my computer all day, so that 1 stuck in the ready to transmit must be 1 done earlier? why won't it go lol. here's what it says
current cache size 10
processing 1
waiting to proc. 8
need to fill 1
ready to transmit 1
I checked my other computer the trusty K6! and there's nothing stuck in there to transmit, not like this one. I looked, and it does say I have sent 18 now, but I think that's the 1 from the K6 that was sent.
Thanks for your help 🙂

Yes, the one that says 'Ready to Transmit' is one you finished earlier meja.

I'm not sure what to suggest now 😱

Ok the green dish has been on for a long time, like hours. It was blue I think when I first installed it. And my K6 has been green all day, is this normal?

edit* ok I exited and turned it back on now my icon is yellow and ready to transmit is 0. So I guess i'll just keep an eye on that, thanks for the help 🙂

OK: This is as far as I know:

SETI Driver:

Blue - Processing, transmit not needed
Yellow - Needs attention, probably ready to transmit
Green (at an angle satalite dish) - Is Transmitting.

From the sounds of it, your machines are trying to transmit and are not able to 🙁

Ok so yellow is not good? lol! now what the transmit thing is zero now. Check in 10 minutes if it updates my stats?

ok I see why it's yellow, it's not letting me click the transmit button at all now. I click it and it flashes green and goes back to yellow 🙁 Sorry to be such a pain *I hate software*

Hehehe we all hate software sometimes dont worry we'll get this fixed 😀

OK Yellow basically means that it needs to transmit 🙂

If it goes temporarily green, then back to yellow, it means it tried to transmit, failed, and has gone back to yellow to tell you it still needs to transmit.

I would see if you can ping the SETI servers or OrangeKid's proxy server through the command line interface in Windows. You have the urls?

'ping orangekid.teamanandtech.com'

Not sure if you need to ping with or without the port number though 🙂5001)

Let me know if this works.
Chris.

No problem 🙂

OK I need some more details: Most importantly - did the ping succeed? I'm not sure if you are reffering to the ping or the WU transfer when you say <<its still not working>>.
The idea of the ping was to see if a connection between you and the SETI servers (or OrangeKid's proxy) was possible (and if your connection was working). Obviously if it succeeded then it is 🙂

You mention a router, it is highly likely that this could be causing a problem 🙂 Annoying peices of equipment at the best of times 😉

meja,

Let me see if I can help you out with this.

Obviously, you must be online. 😉

#1 Place a DOT next to NO PROXY/SOCKS

#2 Click the SAVE CONFIG a couple of times

#3 Now click the TRANSMIT/STOP TRANSMIT several times

If that doesn't get it to work, then click on the EXIT button. Restart SetiDriver (START/PROGRAM FILES/STARTUP/SETIDRIVER.EXE)

Try Clicking TRANSMIT again....I bet it works.

ok, when I ping'd it said reply from 24.118....etc 3 times, then something else that was too fast for me to read.
After that I tried to transmit again, no go, it's still yellow.

Now I tried going with no proxy doing all this...

Try Clicking TRANSMIT again

But it's still yelow, and won't let me transmit. I bet it's my router causing this problem. Thanks for your help guys

<< Aren't you posting to this thread through that router? yes

Did you follow the instructions for Method 2 at THIS LOCATION?
>>

yes 🙂

I rebooted and now the saucer is blue, so it looks normal the ready to transmit 1 is zero, but my stats are still 18 so maybe I lost some wu's somewhere. Thanks for the help

meja, I have reread all of the posts here a second time and I cannot see anything that is obviously wrong. Since you have the K6 crunching and producing, I have confidence that you have installed the SetiDriver and the CLI Client properly.

I have seen times that a SetiDriver seems to get stuck. I've read others talk of this also. It may be due to some WUs having characteristics that cause this type of problem. Actually, one of my teammates had this happen just a couple of days ago. We tried everything and finally resorted to the complete deletion of the entire Seti@Home Folder and started over fresh. That fixed it. And I've had to resort to that on more than one other occassion. So unless someone can think of something else to try that may be the best solution.

Now your last post has me a little puzzled. You wrote, "I rebooted and now the saucer is blue, so it looks normal the ready to transmit 1 is zero, but my stats are still 18 so maybe I lost some wu's somewhere. " You were showing previously "1 to Transmit" but after rebooting you no longer had "1 to Transmit". Maybe the "stuck" WU has gotten "unstuck". HA LOL 😀 At this point I would then suggest we let your computer complete the current work unit and see if it gets transmitted properly. I'd like to follow up on this. What time does SetiDriver predict the current WU to be finished?

it says estimated times
total 8:58
left 2:18
completion 4th 2:08am
and it's 74% done now

see ya tomorrow, i'll let you know how it went 🙂
