Seti driver question.

I just loaded seti driver as I took top place on my team and don't want to lose it while on vacation if my connection craps out, anyway...

It says to put in the number of desired processes. What is that exactly? 🙂

could I also get some advice on how to set up my cache and all that. What is proxy/sock and so forth?

I had just loaded a new unit when I loaded driver so my Seti spy already had a unit going when I set my cache to 8, is this a problem? I think I have two going at once. 🙁 As seti spy gives me two different completion times if I scroll through the progree, perm, results, etc tabs.

Man an I screwed. 🙁

number of processes = how many processors you have, if 1 = 1, if 2 = 2
Cache = at least 3 days worth of w/u in my setup for each pc
you need to make sure that setispy is in the same file as setidriver and have the check mark in setidriver to use setispy.

I would stop the setispy, unless it is half way thru the w/u, and move setispy to the driver file
proxy/socks is set to no if you do not use a proxy/socks server. My isp uses a proxy but I did not have to put the info in setidriver.

Hope that helps ya.

Here is what I followed to set up setispy

>>>>As seti spy gives me two different completion times if I scroll through the progree, perm<<<<

Thats normal ,SETI spy has 2 different ways of measuring cpu time.1 is the average of all the WU completed so far ,the other is from the last calculation(?😱)peformed.

Proxy should be set to 128.138.37.183:5512 😀

Hint: That's the Team Anandtech@CU Boulder Miniteam Proxy

Thanks for the tips guys. 😉

Just a few more questions 🙂, do you guys use the "auto connect" function or do you proccess 10 or so then send them in at once. I thought something was wrong as I was doing WU's and the driver never told me I had units to send in but I guess if it's on atuo connect it should say that huh. :0

Just to clarify, number of procceses is if you have a dual proccesor mobo, right. 🙂

right now I set the cache at 8 units, my PC will do about 7 a day, I'm going out of town next week so I should load up 7 for each day I'm gone right. I thought I saw someone say they had 200 or more saved up.

I think this is why I never used driver or setiq before as some of this stuff is a little confusing to me, ok ok, it more like it's really confusing.

I use auto transmit, but I have cable.

Yes to the processes

Yes to the last part too, but I would add a few more in case you get some fast w/u.

We have cable also so I guess I will leave that alone. And I'll bump my cache to 30 or so.

thanks danzigrules.
