look at Smoke's post above, (esp. his sig line link) it has the reasons, and how to's for running SETI @ Home for TeAm Anandtech.

We have had a long and friendly competition with BBR and can use any help to keep them at bay. (even a 166 Pentium is valuable in this race)

If you (for what ever reason) don't decide SETI @ home is for you please stick around and post in the DC forums, there are many other DC(Distrubited Computing) projects that may interst you. We have a very friendly "sub-community" within the Anandtech forums and will be glad to answer any questions you may have.
