Seti client for this monster?

Ok. At work I have a Unisys ClearPath NX4600 mainframe. :) It basically has 3 "boxes" within it. One is the MCP/AS OS that is used for the credit union and obviously can't process Seti. MCP/AS is a Unisys proprietary OS. Then there is a Unix System V box in it, and then an NT box. "UNIX(r) System V Release 4.0 (CPSCPA)" is what is says when you telnet to it. I honestly don't even know what architecture it runs on. Any idea how to find out if there is a Seti client for it? :)

The clients are based on hardware platform as well as OS. In your case, I don't think they have one for that platform. I think the only mainframe platform I've seen supported is the S390... (but I may be wrong).

If there is WinNT running on it then it can be either a x86, MIPS, Alpha or PowerPC CPU.

...Provider 2 bets 6 quadlos on an x86 CPU.....

Yes, I watch Star Trek re-runs too! ;)

EDIT:

At any rate, here's a LINK that may help with determining what kind of equipment you're dealing with!

The Unisys box your on about actualy is based on the X86 architecture, using hardware timesharing allowing multy os running (used to work for a Unisys dealer). The native OS is actually NT! (the other OS's run under that, sorta). best client would be the CLI seti x86 client!

Unless there architecture has changed dramatically in the last 12months that is!

Hope that helps.

Ok, there are 3 ways I can access the box, and I think from the docs I've read there are 3 processors in there. One way is thru the ODT (Operator Display Terminal) that is directly connected to the box. I can switch between that Unix System V OS and NT server. I ran CPUID on the NT server and it is a Pentium Pro 200 with 512k of L2 cache. :) So Seti is definitely going on there. As far as the Unix side, I will follow Networkman's link to see if anything comes of that. I just printed the almost 400 page Console Operations Guide for the thing (on one of the two HP LaserJet 8000 DN's we have here- gotta love duplexing :) ) so I will learn more soon. As far as the MCP/AS side of things, there's no way so I won't even worry about that.

Thanks guys :) I am suprised some of you know something about this thing :)

Hehe! Am I good or what?!? Yeah, yeah.. probably what. :p

Now how do I collect my quadlos? And more importantly, where I do exchange them to get some Duron chips?

Ben98SentraSE, Even on the WinNT "side" of the box, you could have multiple processors. Do you need to run multiple SETIs or is it MP aware?

LOL networkman! :D

Ben - on the Unix side... if there's any "Linux emulation" installed, you could try that. I run the libc5 linux seti client on my NetBSD...

Nope. 1 processor. WCPUID tells you all that, as well as task manger shows 1 CPU only at 100% :) That 512k of L2 should help quite a bit.

As far as Linux emulation, I will look into that.

Still, I don't know what architecture that System V side is... any way to tell?
