Question I have about all the work that was done with SETI Classic and BOINC is the point system.

My account shows the 83,000 work units done in classic mode. With BOINC I have 8,000+ points.

With all that work done in classic mode, other then knowing how many were crunched is there any benefit when you link the classic wu's to your BOINC account?

Nope, there is none.

But if you do so, you can also have the classic WUs printed on the certificates that are availbale on the main site.

So what your saying is, I can add the units I crunched under Classic SETI to BOINC and that total is what is reflected on my certificates?

The scores of classic and BOINC are totally independent from each other, so "add" might be the wrong word.

But if you link your classic and your BOINC account, your cert will say something like:

Christian Diepold has participated in the SETI@home project since 12 March 2003, and has contributed 20,060 Cobblestones of computation (17.33 quintillion floating-point operations) and 1500 Classic workunits to SETI@home's search for extraterrestrial life.

That's the only benefit I know of.
