Poof...great comments, civility should rule - us against the cheaters.

I wonder what they will say when I finally get everything turned back on in my garage, will 40+ more WU's a day point a finger at me?

I believe that none of the big teams condone cheating in any way, as cheaters hurt everyone.

We must remember that everyone is innocent until proven guilty.
(Once proven guilty, can we torture and kill them?)

Cheaters suck. :|
 
well I guess it's a testiment to us all that these methods are a surprise to us.
I also sincerely hope we all get a clean bill of health after the results are examined, I believe we will.
I also remember the hubub surrounding Tim's account and was satisfied at the time that S@H gave him a clean bill of health back then.

That sucks...... I have spent way too much time investing and tweaking for every single Wu I can get to reach my goals and to think that there are people who are within the top 1000 in the world are frauds is sickening. I can point to my position and comfortably say that each and every single Wu was mine and accounted for. 🙂

"Us"(DC'ers) against cheaters is the focus here. All teams need to work together on this, it is in all teams best interest to weed out the cheaters.

As promised here is info from SETI@Home. Cheaters will be zeroed, looking for programmers that would like to look at SETI@Home II code Officially called BOINC and make sure that cheating cannot be done with it.

This cheating thing has flared up again recently. Today we posted a position statement on the SETI@home message board, basically saying:
- Modifying our current software to prevent this type of cheating is possible but would take a bunch of time, which would detract from our current efforts at finding ET, and developing the next-generation software (BOINC)
- BOINC will prevent this type of cheating.
- In the meantime, as time permits we identify obvious cheaters and zero out their accounts.
BOINC is open-source. It's functional but pre-alpha. It's at http://sf.net/projects/boinc
The best way for people (if they're programmers) is to download and read the BOINC code, and help us get it right this time.
