Seti Benchmarks

In the interest of some accurate numbers I am running the Team Lambchop Benchmark wu on some of my computers. Feel free to do the same, and post your results here.

You can download the Benchmark wu HERE

(1) 6896A,
P-4 1.6a @ 2.4ghz Air cooled (stock hsf)
256 meg Corsair XMS3000 DDR cas 2
FSB 150mhz
Gigabyte 8IRXP m/b
Win XP
Seti Win32 CLI 3.03
Results 3 hours 19 minutes

(2) KooLance (192.168.1.102 in SetiQ)
AMD XP1800+ @ 1733mhz water cooled
256 meg Corsair XMS3000 DDR cas 2
FSB 145mhz
Abit KR7A m/b
Suse Linux/wine (running in a terminal window in KDE)
Seti Win32 CLI 3.03
Results 3 hours 34 minutes

I decided to see if I could get a little more out of 6896A (P-4) so I bumped the FSB up to 160mhz (2.56ghz) and am running the benchmark again.

I also have a dual P-3 500/2meg Xeon that I might benchmark, if anyone is interested in the results, or a dual PPro 200/1meg?

Not a lot of response here🙁

I just reran the benchmark on 6896A (P-4 1.6a) after bumping the FSB to 160mhz (2.56ghz).

Total time 3 hours 6 minutes

Still looking for those sub 2 hour times people are talking about.

Guess I will wait till later today, and see if I can bump the FSB a little higher.

KooLance (XP1800+ @ 1733mhz) could not handle another 5mhz on the FSB 🙁 Locked up while booting Linux.

I also just discovered that I had a virus scanner scanning files in the background on the P-4, have to rerun the last test again, later.

kinda slow... my old 1.47ghz athlon got 3h22m... 😎

See the first three lines of my first post 😀

The only valid way to compare, is to run the same work unit.

Reply to the post below 😀

Not to shabby! 😀 Imagine where I would be if I could get this P-4 to 173 FSB !!! 😀
Also noticed that I would be number 5 on the list, but I did not check the updated one 😀

Ia'm 14th on the List with a 1900xp @ 1.7, sent in 7 months ago. Iv'e since built an 1800xp @ 1.8 that would be in the top 3rd or 4th place but would quickly be beaten by the T-Bred's 🙁

steell I would like the see the benches of those other systems you got
would be interesting to see what times all that cache allows you to get
my P4m 1.8 laptop hacks packets around 5hr 20min (don't wanna waste cpu time on a "fake" test packet heh heh)
my athlon 600 busts um out in like 11hrs
my uncle's athlon xp1700+ smacks um dead in around 5hrs although i can't get him to stop playing games on it long enough to get an uninterupted processing time hehehe

I know what you mean about wasting time! My daily average dropped by 4 when I benched those two computers 🙁

BTW, think my XP1800+ @1733 is so slow cause I am running it in a terminal window in KDE?
According to what I have read, the win32 CLI running under wine in Linux, is supposed to be the fastest. 😕

I ran the TLC benchmark some months ago when I had my XP1500 @ 10x153=1530MHz ,I seem to remember the time was 3hrs 32mins 🙂
I'll have to rerun the TLC WU as I now have it at 10.5x149=1565MHz ,which seems to be fractionally faster

I wonder how the P4 Celerons do on SETI? ,probably not good I would guess due to their small L2 cache & slow archecture.
My Duron 1.1@ 9x133=1200MHz does av AR WU's in just under 5hrs🙂

Steell
You would get better WU times on the XP if you could unlock it ,set a lower multiplier with a higher FSB

I'm sure that you are right, about the lower multiplier/higher FSB, but it is water cooled, and a real pita to take the cpu out. I just upped the FSB to 163 on the P-4 1.6a. It is now running at 2.61ghz, a 1ghz overclock, I am impressed 😀
I tried 166,165,164mhz FSB, but WinXP refused to boot, even when I increased the vcore to 1.65v. Since it has the stock hsf, and it gets really warm in here, I did not want to take the vcore any higher.

If you want to read about an awesome overclock, check out the thread by Thugsrook in the O/C forum.
If I remember correctly, he was running at 2.8ghz on a P4B266-C m/b. He sure is good at taking stuff to the limit ! 😀

And here is his newest Thread with a P4B533 m/b, and he is up to 2.88ghz with a 1.6a. Totally amazing !!
