YGPM back.

Can someone PM me their SETI e-mail address so I can test the queue? I don't want this queue to be public, so I would
rather manually enter people's accounts in the queue. I got the queue running as an under-privledged user without any
problems now... I just need to make sure it will startup after a reboot (albeit it's not too difficult to start manually)

Here's how it looks

I have sent Orangekid an email regarding orangekid.teamanandtech.com. If he concurs with the change, I will change it immediately.

Brad..

Woah! Slow down! Before people can connect to my queue, I need their SETI e-mail addresses so I can create their accounts on my queue. I am going to be
booting the machine near the end of the day to make sure my startup scripts work as well.

Mucman,

I believe what is in the works is I have already setup a "separate" Q that has been the target of the redirection of "seti.teamanandtech.com:5001" Q (OrangeKid's other SetiQueue). Brad is inquiring if it would be all right to redirect the "orangekid.teamanandtech.com:5001" to the same target. Thus avoiding the catastrophe. 😉

Once the "Q" is safe we can deal with the redistribution of the load.

Smokeball, ahhh I see. My queue is full operational now and it is running as an open proxy until I figure out how to make the setup script
read the security.jsd file. I think I will keep tweaking my scripts and I will post an *OFFICIAL* opening of my proxy 😀. The load isn't a big deal to
me... I am sure I can take the brunt of the load. Security and stability are my number one priorites.

I think we are all agreed that once past this current situation, the main objective is to spread out the users of TeAm SetiQueues. That should be done not only to share the load but to spread the risk. 😉

The lesson learned here is, "when SETI is installed on a machine that the installer will have no further direct access, they should never use a TeAm SetiQueue". When that is done, the machine becomes completely dependant on that SetiQueue's stability and longevity.

Good idea! You thing we would learn something from all of this distributed computing 😀

I'm going to take the proxy down, because I am not happy with the way it is starting up... I'm probably going to write
some sort of C wrapper program that will fork a process as an under priveledged user. The same goes for the Distributed
Folding proxy.

I have told bphantom to go ahead and change the orangekid addy to go to smokeballs addy anytime he wishes as this will make the transition the easiest and the Team will not loose any work

Thank you Don. I know that was a very hard thing to do. You are the best. 😉 🙂

Sounds good... I figured that I should set up a queue anyways. Got to use that 100MBit upstream bandwidth for something. Like I said... I will post when I get everything set up to my liking.

If you want to setup an FTP server I can put a nice dent in that bandwidth for you. 🙂

:Q

I think thats how much bandwidth the Seti main data server has.
My dl/ul speed is about 16kbit. :|

Actually I highly doubt we could achieve 100MBit uploads with our current network infrastructure. During the
SQL Slammer attack our router was pushing 35Mbit worth of data and its buffers were overflowing... of course
this was caused by millions of udp packets destined all of the map... it would be able to handle tcp connections
much more efficiently. I have performed downloads at 6MB/s but that was from a building that was a couple blocks
away that was close to the termination point of our fiber.

That said, we are usually pushing 20Mbit of data during the peak hours of the day.

Some of our customers learned the hard way about that... they had insecure permissions on there stuff and some warez dudes hi-jacked
their site. In 1 day they did 40GB of traffic. Their bill was not a pretty site 🙂

Smokeball, get ready because here comes the flood. 🙂 Zone is updated. The TTL was three hours, so in less than three hours everyone will be working off your server.

Brad..

I feel your Pain, OK! 😀

(Yes the traffic is flowing, Brad) 😉 🙂

Thank you.

I am noticing I do not surf the web as fast as I once did. 😛 😀

Let's not joke around with those flames too much. We sure don't need those. :Q 😉 😀
