So how long we got until the new Seti project? I have calculated that if I don't add to my production, I will hit 10,000 WU's some time in late March. I saw a post that mentioned that the new Seti project may not start until then. Do I have hope? I sure would like to hit that 10,000 mark before the end! :D

Yeah, I'm putting 3 more machines online so I can get to 10K well before the end.

I just lost an intel 1.8 but will be adding an XP1800 running cli on RedHat 8.0 so that levels out, I just don't see any more boxes coming my way soon!

Well, I managed to hit both 25k and the top 2,000 before the end of the project, so I can retire my account(s) happy. :)

Of all my orginal goals I have yet to achieve the last and hardest, 99.99% of users, as of today I am "You have completed more work units than 99.981% of our users" so close but so very very far away. I don't honestly think I will achieve it.

I'd like to see 99.95 myself, but every dump I'm lucky to even get it to move .001 :(

The new instrument will record data from 13 places on the sky simultaneously, observing 13 "beams" at a time compared to the 1 "beam" at Arecibo.

:Q :Q :Q

13 beams!! Wow!!

Very cool - that should be much more interesting than seti1.
I have enjoyed being a part of the "birth of DC" (that's the way I see seti@home).
I feel seti2 should be and will be much more than seti1 ever was, and the other projects that come after will also be much more interesting and possibly innovative than these projects we have had for the past few years.

Will Seti 2 run with the same clients or will we need to setup new clients?

I'm pretty sure it is going to be completely different. Hopefully, easier to install on many platforms and hack proof. ;)

It is going to be an interesting period ahead of us. :)

I'll be lucky to reach 7500 before project's end. I've already made it past 99.5%, though, and considering I once thought I was finished at 640 WU, I'm happy. :)

I'm just afraid The Wildnet won't be able to run the next SETI client. :( I don't know of another non-profit client that fits in a ramdisk, with under a megabyte of data, and returns results fairly often.

OTOH by then I may have graduated, and have company computers to assimilate. ;)

I'm really looking forward to SETI 2. I think with SETI 2 on the way we should really start thinking of recruitment, as a new face always attracts a new croud :)
