Just completed a few WUs with the new client...
I have an 800 MHZ machine that churns out a WU in 5hr 45min with 2.4 CLI.

I just got 2.70, and WUs are clocking in at 3.5-4 hours! Long ones take a little over 5... There's a large variance in WU times... I had one over 6 hours.

I do not think the beta is not accepting new members, and beta testers are only allowed to download the install program once; then they're locked out. So I can't give you a link.

Try e-mailing beta@setiathome.berkeley.edu with your system config and subject of Beta Test. That's how I joined when they announced the beta was open on the alt.sci.seti newsgroup. Last I've heard, though, is that the beta is closed to new testers. Sorry.

w9design: Thanks for the info. If MisterM responds I'll put one 2.7 Client on a box under his name for him. I don't want to get anyone in trouble so I will not use it on the rest of my herd.

Hmm ,well ,I've been running it now for 4hrs 15 mins ,it's at 35.7% ,not too good ,better than v2.66 but definatly slower than v2.04 or v2.4.
This is being run on a Cel 366 @ 550 ,CAS2 RAM ,Win 95c with little else running alongside.I usually manage about 8.25 hrs on v2.04GUI & about 7.9hrs on v2.4CLi.

Hehe, that isn't so bad Russ ;). A Prime95 "WU" takes around a month on a P3 600. That's patience (I only did one, and then I had to quit because I couldn't stand it any longer...).

Hehe Russ... it takes hours doing OGR as well and when you and your rack has solved Rc5 that's your ticket :)

Just thought I'd mention that...
