Backgroud:
1. switch from cable to Fios. has Cox installed first and now asked to cat5 to Verizon router.
2. plan to replace Verizon router with my existing Zyxel x-550 router. Can't get it work.

Try already:
1. clone mac address of verizon router
2. Release IP (hidden deep..) in the verizon router and immediate plug cat5 to my Zyxel WAN..
3. change to same 192.168.1.1 as verizon router..

all failed so far. Anyone can help me? TIA!
Fios us dynamic IP address right? no any PPoPE right?

The Zyxel router just show cable not connected. when click renew DHCP, it stay as "Establishing..." for the whole night.

BTW, replace it because the Verizon don't have wpa2 and it really bad running p2p software (the other browser will completely can't display...). While gaming it frozen... not sure if its Fios, or the game server thro.

Many verizon customers are on pppoe like myself. They are rolling out DHCP, but not everywhere is DHCP yet. I would look at the existing router and see how it is establishing the WAN connection.

My fios is PPPOE. any username and password should work, I use username:verizon password:fios. Its only using ppoe to establihsh a connection, not for accees administration/verification.

If the box is using DHCP make sure you release the WAN connection from the actiontek first before attempting to aquire a DHCP address from a new mac address.

as a side note, i couldn't get my pppoe connection to work at first when i made my smoothwall the primary router and put the actiontek router in my orange network. foundout that everything in the pppoe section (service name etc..) needed to be blank except for username and password.
