Wasn't there a video of a well know restaurant who's hostess got beat up by three women from out of town when they were asked to show their vax cards? We're all vaxxed like good dogs but I'm just pleased your folks actually replied. Now I'm getting eager.

I hate that some people take it up on the staff. It's not their fault, and it's not the owner's fault either. They are being forced by the government to do that. Nobody likes it. The restaurants and other places that are forced to do it probably hate it as much as we do since it's a lot of extra administrative work, and risk. They can get huge fines if they don't do it properly or what not.

I don't know how things are with Covid, but in years past, the weeks before Christmas were very expensive times to go. Hotel prices double or triple starting early December. It seems that everyone has the same idea as the OP.

When I went and used Google maps to zoom in on lower Manhattan, selecting this hotel and that, changing the dates to Xmas week, the rates were astonishingly good. Shoot, maybe not after saying it on this forum ... now watch their be a damn Anand-meeting in NYC at Xmas. Also, even the airfare wasn't too bad.

Travel hasn't made nearly the comeback that's being "spun" by most media right now.... still plenty of deals to be had.

Oh, they're still there. You're going to need your vaccine card to get into restaurants and masks to get into basically anything.

The only thing I've done as far as events go in NYC has been several Mets games @ Citi Field. The only place I saw any kind of mask wearing ENFORCEMENT was in actual sit-down restaurants and in the main team store. (however many people were masked up even outdoors)

In New Haven there's a local mask mandate for anything indoors as well.... roughly 90% of people here comply from what I've seen.

If it weren't for wearing prescription eyewear I would be happy about wearing a mask. But cool months and my hot, moist breath wearing a mask means my eyesight is greatly reduced. Let's forget about how uncomfortable I find them--and I do wear them--it is annoying having your glasses constantly fogged up. But it is even worse trying to conduct photography with fogged eyewear, unless I am constantly pulling off the chin-diaper trick. My vaccine card is complete--heck, I'm trying to get double-dosed if I could ever learn that it isn't illegal. Anyway, the trip is something to look forward to as I've not been on holiday since ~2016 when we took a three day Halloween trip to Boston/Salem.

Outdoors very few people wear masks. You can shoot photographs to your heart's content without one.

I haven't seen many people wearing masks inside restaurants when they aren't seated either.

Most museums will require them even though its not mandated by the city AFAIK, as well as required on Broadway. In the subway it's required and 98% of people do. I'm on the A train right now headed to Brooklyn.

I'm seeing dune in IMAX soon in Manhattan and masks are actually not required, but I will be wearing one. That seems like an ideal place to catch Covid, a packed opening day theater.

It happens more with metal-frame glasses and large temp swings enhanced by breath leakage.

Also those cheap/bogus paper masks (NOT n95) that many places are convinced do a better job then any other kind cause fogging since they seal so poorly.

Hasn't been an issue for me since I stocked up on the reusable Adidas masks I saw on here way back at the beginning. (they're far better then most... key is they're comfortable AND they filter well)

CT is crazy with it. My kids had to play competitive ice hockey wearing masks. They were suffering pretty bad... gasping for breaths.
