for ppl running win2k... have you noticed sometimes how services.exe will (in my case) grow from about 5mb to.... 18mb? right now my system has been up for a bit less than 3 days. anyone know how it free it up?
yeah i already cut down the number of services to a minimum. the thing is that after a while, it'll gobble a bunch of memory without having started any other services.
Mine is around 4 megs. I have disabled a number that I don't need/want, such as:
Distributed Link Tracking Client (I don't use NTFS volumes in a network at home)
Messenger (I'm the only user. I'm not sending messages to myself)
Remote Registry Service (Let someone access my registry from a remote location? naaahhhh)
Print Spooler (I have no printer)
Task Scheduler (Ugh not a chance)
Telephony (No devices that need it)
Computer Browser (No networked machines. No one needs access at all to my machine from otuside. Why even leave the possibility of a backdoor?)
Server (See computer browser. These two go hand-in-hand)
