I have had Win XP Home SP1 installed on 2 computers (upgrade Versions).

One Computer now has SP2 v.2149 installed on it and I have never been offered SP2 on the other computer.

Both have all other significant upgrades installed.

Any idea why update never offers me SP2 on the second computer?

They are both legal, I swear.

well sp2 has gone final yet so it'll not be on the v4 update site.

Would you explain that?

SP2 is in RC2 ... which is a beta.

Yes, but how come update offered me the SP on one computer but not on the other?

I wouldn't worry about it not being on Windows update right now considering its still considered beta, if you are wanting to put it on your other machine, simply download the full installer, just google it to find out where you can download it from

No it's OK but I was just curious.

Apparently SP2 had been downloading without my knowledge, then it popped up and said it was ready to install and installed in several minutes.

Thanks all.

One of my machines has automatically started getting Windows Updates from the V5 site - so has been offered SP2. All other machines still go to V4 by default so can't 'see' SP2 as an update yet, but I've no idea what has triggered the one machine to see the V5 Update site :)

I think once you've gone to the V5 site, future visits to just windowsupdate will take you back there..

That was the case with me. I visited the V5 site out of curioisty on one of my PCs and then from there, it offered me SP2. All other machines still default to V4 and don't offer SP2.

If you go to the normal Windows Update site and then change the v4 to v5 at the beginning of the web address this should take you to the new site which will then be the default. At least, that's how it worked on mine....
