what are the good server softwares that run on win98se? i am thinking of hosting my own website on my computer.

what are the advantages and disadvantages of hosting on win98 as compared to win2k, other than the usual stability?

what finally, when hosting webpages on my own computer, what security measures can i take to prevent people from hacking into my computer?

to answer your first and last questions: use windows 2000

for the second one: it's ten times better than 98

I am using analogx simple server www for my website on my win98se box. It is a free software and it is very easy to set up and get running. You just point the software to your index.html page and press start.

Sambar, hasnt been updated in a while but is extremely easy.
Apache, harder to setup, but damn good.

But anyway, really, get Win2000 or Linux or anything cept Win9x, 9x sucks for just about anything, but using it as a server...
