Alright, first server I ever hooked up, wasn't really sure how to do it so please let me know if I made a mistake.

First thing, there was a USP thing that I had to set up, charge the battery and etc so I could hook the tower & monitor power into that. Now, to connect the server, I don't put the rj-45 into the switch right? But into the main (not sure what it's called but I connect the ports on the swith to it). I don't have the admin PW so I can't log into it atm. Does that sound about right?

Uh..... x 100

Not quite sure WHAT exactly you're asking.

"USP thing" = UPS (battery backup?) Yes, you should charge the batteries first before you hook anything up to it. Just plug it in and leave it overnight w/nothing plugged into it.

"Put the RJ45 into the switch?" Well, if you want LAN or internet connectivity, you have to hook the server's NIC (Network Interface Card) into SOMEHTING. I don't know how you're setup.

Are you at home running off a cable/DSL modem?

The output of the modem goes into the switch, and the server connects to the switch as well.

But then there are IP Address issues. Does your modem do DHCP? (Does it assign IP addresses to devices attached to it?)

Need more info to help you.
