Server memory in a desktop?

I was wondering if you are able to use server memory like the HP pc3200 ddr dimm module for hp servers, and put them in a desktop computer. Will it work? how can i find the compatiblility if so? Thanks.
 
If memory says "ECC" (and server memory usually does), then check if desktop motherboard says "ECC" (most desktop motherboards don't).

Or you could do as I once did - try. No boot, nothing.
