You don't need registered memory, especially with an X58 board...

You do realize that processor and motherboard are (for the most part) identical to an i7 9xx and 1366 mobo right?

EDIT: you also need a CPU cooler with that Xeon. It retails with processor only...

OP, this sort of thing is going to be a headache in a bottle if you try to whitebox it.

I'd suggest getting a Dell MD1200 filled out with 12 2TB NL SAS drives with an H800 controller to throw into a (preferably Dell) box of your choice. Should run right around $10K.
