Server backup software

Boy, I thought I posted a thread about this a few months ago but I did a search and couldn't find it, so I'll repost.

I'm looking for some server backup software for my home Windows 2012 server. Here are the requirements:

1. Must back up running Hyper V VMs (via VSS).
2. Must support multiple backup jobs and have flexible scheduling options.
3. Must support a variety of backup destinations (USB, iSCSI volumes, etc).
4. The cheaper, the better. 🙂

Windows Server Backup not supporting multiple backup jobs or flexible scheduling is a real pain. Yes, I'm aware that I could script multiple backup jobs and use task scheduler to schedule them, but I'd prefer something more powerful that has these options built-in to the GUI interface. Any ideas? I'm looking for suggestions from people who have used the software they're recommending. I did play with the notion of Microsoft System Center DPM, but that seems way too complex for what I need.

Yes, for backing up VMs, Veeam is the best. They have a free version as well, although it doesn't have all the features of the regular version - but definitely worth trying at least.

We use Veeam at work, good stuff.

Sorry, I should've mentioned that I ruled Veeam out already. As Chiefcrowe said, it has a free version but it lacks too many features to be useful for my application. IIRC, the pay version of Veeam was over $1,000 and that's too much.

That is going to be the story for most if not all of the backup solutions if $1000 is too steep. You need pay if you want to play in the backup market.

(based on you wanting multiple hosts and VSS, hyper-V awareness etc)

Yeah, I think I'll probably end up scripting backup jobs with WSB and scheduling them that way. I was hoping I was missing something.

For Server backup you don't want to invest in software, then you can use built-in windows backup and backup to an external drive. windows server backup will back All Active directory, data ,etc..........
