Somehow you think you are less extreme 🙄. This is the exact problem with the android faction. They are just as fanatical in their words but for some insane reason they don't think they are as bad as the apple users. Not. Even. Close. To. Accurate.

Both sides seem to have the devoted defenders of the faith.

With Android comes the freedom of choice. The ability to pick screen sizes, style, color, etc. It's all black and white one size fits all with Apple and I don't see this changing anytime soon.

Apple is strong now but they see the writing on the wall and it's not pretty to them. Most likely the #1 reason they became the patent trolls they are today. If you cant innovate you litigate is the new company slogan!

Apples arrogance will catch up to them soon enough.

In the words of Samsung " It's time for some fresh air " I like that new commercial 😀

My preference for Android devices pales in comparison to your love of and constant defense of Apple and everything it does. . . . You, on the other hand, have never said anything critical of Apple even when it's blatantly obvious they're committing actions that should be criticized.

Let's try to keep this crap out of a thread for a change. It takes two to fight and unless your arguments have something to do with the thread topic, please keep it out of the thread.

Apple, the new patent troll.

They're not a patent troll. "Patent Bully" is probably a more appropriate term. Patent trolls are companies that litigate patents without actually producing any products related to those patents.

This directly would create a monopoly, stifle innovation and create a market that doesn't benefit consumers at all.

Doubtful. I have yet to see one patent held by Apple that would somehow make Android impossible. Even the ones that Apple has been successful with have been worked around in a few weeks by other companies.

But seeing how the nexus is google's flagship phone as well, hopefully their lawyers step in and make everything right.

Once again, doubtful. At most they've done things via a proxy (i.e. giving some patents to HTC) but have yet to step up. They probably don't want to get involved in so far as they can help it. Perhaps that will change now that the Oracle trial has been settled for the most part.

Haha. I'm not an Apple fanatic and I have an Android phone. I like Sony phones. I just don't like corrupt organizations.

I am, actually. You're one to talk, though... receiving more infractions and moderator-modified posts than I ever could hope to.

Thanks for reiterating my point. Thinking you are some shade less fanatical than the people you argue with just shows how out of touch you are with what you write.

This is just false.

I've just recently started to follow mobile tech (as a job requirement) so I came into this scene completely neutral. I have to say that I was simply amazed by how crazy and drone-like apple fans really are. I never really got the hate for that crowd before, but I do now.

Android fans are not nearly as bad. It probably comes from the fact that Android is a highly involved OS. The Apple-fan mentality is "Apple knows best, no reason to critique them", while the Android-fan mentality is more focused on self critiques and improvements of not only the platform but the mobile environment at large.

Sure, everything has its fanboys, but at least android users can admit certain faults (fragmentation, etc). Apple fans treat the company like a deity, and spout things that are simply wrong

^ True. iFans can only repeat the information, usually incorrect, that Apple puts on its public site or PowerPoint slides. Try to discuss anything with them, and that's all you'll get, just parrots of the slides.

How many infractions/post modifications in Apple/Android threads have you received again? That's right.. quite a few. I have received, by my count, two. Yes, you are more of a fanatic than I.

Seriously. Quit acting like a pack of idiots and trying to win at the internet by calling someone else a bigger fanboy. Everyone who has to read through that crap is dumber for having to look at those posts and has had their time wasted.

To try and get things back on track, it would appear as though Samsung has appealed the injunction for the Galaxy Nexus. Probably not the most shocking thing, and certainly not unexpected, but at least it's relevant.

Yes you are. Have you ever said anything critical of Apple?

Yes I have and no I'm not going to look at the 11K posts I've made in the past 10 years. But you're more than welcome to access the Dari archives. I'm pretty sure you will see plenty of anti-Apple crap in there...

Aren't you the one who goes on and on about how "fragmentation is just a myth that affects nobody" any time someone mentiones it as a downside of Android? I think it's pretty hilarious that you responded to that quote.

Fragmentation is pretty much a myth, it only came about after Apple put fragmentation on their slides. 😛
Edit - I think I've added the worst iFans to my ignore list. My blood boils at stupidity and I've got to learn to let people be stupid somethings. :/

btw, Fragmentation hasn't been on Google's I/O slides . . . so were you accusing me of something?

Too bad... T.S.

It would have been shocking if they hadn't appealed it really.

It's a horrible president to set, banning a phone model for a fairly trivial thing. I suppose it's not a massive problem for Samsung (they have other phones to sell) and it's not a great problem for Google. Imagine it was the 4S that was banned.

You're blind if you don't see Samsung's copy machines working in full force. This is the Asian culture, they copy everything. I'm Asian myself, and I know that's how Asian companies roll.

Just like how the previous poster saying they send employees for espionage work.

LG (Korean company) was actually the first manufacturer with a slate touch screen phone (LG Prada KE850)

LG Electronics has claimed the iPhone's design was copied from the LG Prada. Woo-Young Kwak, head of LG Mobile Handset R&D Center, said at a press conference, “We consider that Apple copied the Prada phone after the design was unveiled when it was presented in the iF Design Award and won the prize in September 2006.

Unlike Apple they never filed a lawsuit.

Do these look a bit like the iPad? If so these were Samsung designed picture frames from 2005.

I like Apple and their products but I hate their practices. Apple got a lot of stuff for their Macintosh and Mac OS from Xerox, they take inspiration from many other sources yet others can't take inspiration from them? They stifle competition and always get on the defensive.

LG Prada? Lol what a joke of a phone. It runs Flash lite for its OS for crying out loud. LG CEO wished they made something like the iPhone.

Samsung picture frame? Turn it sideways and it's nothing like an iPad.

Nice try.

What difference does it make what the LG runs when they are talking about appearance?

Also for the picture frame you're saying it's okay to copy the front if you make the back different?

I was talking about the design, Apple files lawsuits over design.

Turn it sideways and it looks the same as well (sans home button).

The Prada was a smoke n mirrors toy phone. It's physically a phone but the software was junk.

Aside from that, the iPhone was introduced not too long after. I'm sure Apple developed a smartphone in only a few months. /s

As for the picture frame, that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that you should compare the whole package, not just the screen.

Besides the possibility that Apple will lose this in appeals, there's the grim reality that a ban won't do anything to stop the avalanche of Android products flooding the marketplace.

As HTC has shown, it takes less 30 days or less to adjust the shipping firmware to circumvent Apple's software patents. At best, most smartphones stay relevant for 6-8 months before being replaced. A SGS3 ban would have hit Samsung hard, but that's not happening anytime soon (not until they've dumped 30 million of them into the marketplace).

1 million Android activations per day and rising. By next summer, iOS is going to be buried under 400 million new Android devices on the market. Even a company as large as Apple can't sue that many devices out of consumers hands. The people have spoken; they want Android to be the dominant operating system in the worldwide smartphone market.

So with the LG you're saying it's okay to copy the look if your software is better and you release it near the thing you copied?

With the picture frame its okay to copy bits as long as you don't copy the whole package?
