Serious: Where can i learn to build my own camera, especially infared!

I am an EE student, I would like to build my own infared camera as a project... can anyone provide any good sources of information?

My goal is to get video, preferably infared video onto a componet or coxal cable... such that a vcr or other device could read it.

Yeah i am at a university but that doesn't mean they have good info on how to build what i want.... of course they can tell me the principles behind everything... but never how to apply it.

i built a camera and stuck it on a rocket.


got glue on the lens though. that sucked.

You can start by researching how to build a CCD. IMO, Since building a CCD (necessary for video) is probably beyond most hobiest abilities you are better off buying what you need.
