Serious Samurize Configs.

Samurize is a highly customizable program that allows you to use plug-ins to display things like system temps, hard drvie space, weather, tv shows, etc. Pretty much everything is customizable, as well as the programs appearance. It takes bit of time to make everything work and look good, and people tend to be miserly when it comes to sharing configs.

I tend to go against the grain concerning the appropriate use of Samurize. As you can see with my config, I try to pack as much information as I can into the smallest amount of space.

There are definitely some huge configs out there that I believe are way overdone. I mean, do I really need to put my CPU model and speed, not to mention video card and driver version on my desktop. What? Is any of that information going to change without me knowing? Not likely, so I really dont need to put that on my desktop.

Use Samurze (and similar tools) to show truly dynamic information.

Just installed Samurize, don't have time to play w/ it yet. How many MB's of memory is this prog taking up when it's fairly well equipped?

Hmm... Coolmon may be the way to go here...

I just have to say that StatBar was downloaded, installed and configured in less than 5 minutes...my dad could use this!

very clean, out of the way and totaly configurable...a very good prog...

After looking at tthe screenshots (StatBar, CoolMon, and Samurize), Samurize clearly blows away the competition. The graphical nature of Samurize gives it an almost unfair advantage against the others.

Unfrotunately, you really have to work with Sam to get a nice config, and many folks are discouraged by the effort required to do so.

and every time you change you desktop background yull have to reconfigure it

i change my wallpaper at least 1 time a week. thats why i use coolmon it goes with everything

guess it's icons vs plain text. i'd rather deal with text than the icons.

i like the simplicity of text. but then again i don't use themes for windows and don't skin my media players.

Anubis and Sid, a well-executed Samurize config can work with most any background (and don't forget the taskbar). Heck, Samurize is so versatile that you can make a config that looks exactly like Coolmon, StatBar, and any other similar tool out there.

True, you can get even more specific and intricate with your config for your specific background. It's all a matter of effort and how much time you'll put into massaging Samurize.

I guess some folks would rather spend their valuable time picking out another background.
