On the "normal" setting, I can not finish either of the last 2 boards, the ones outside and then inside the cathedral walls.

Then move the setting to "easy" or "tourist".

I won't tell.

:)

If you must finish on normal, then 'save' every few seconds (after a few enemies are eliminated and before you take any hits). Did you find all the "serious" bombs? And the hidden power-ups?

You might need to give up your keyboard for one of those new keypad controllers where all the keys are set in an easy to reach configuation.

I'm no expert . . . I finished SS first on "Tourist" then played custom levels at progressively harder strengths. I am really disappointed in this short game . . . we are only getting 1/3 of a game for $20 in annual segments . . . recently, on the other hand - for a great contrasting deal - I finished Unreal Gold after weeks of play . . . now that's a game . . .

yes, but I wouldn't play a game on easy.
Normal is the right level for me, in fact it is easy even the long winding part near the end, but outside the cathedral holy crap the last part is impossible.

You're contradicting yourself . . . :D

If "normal" is the "right" level, you wouldn't be posting this nor would you be using words like "impossible". ;)

I can only speak for myself, but I felt no shame finishing the game on "easy" . . . I CAN (now) beat the game's last 2 levels on 'normal' when I load a custom game level.

Is anyone looking forward to paying $20 for SS the Final Encounter?

If you want to really get your $$$'s worth in a game, give Total War: Shogun: Warlord Edition a go.

I don't know anything about it . . . what type of game? . . . I really prefer first and 3rd person shooters

Games I really felt I got my money's worth . . . Half-Life & Unreal would be at the very top of my list. I guess I should go out and buy Quake III. :)

This is by no means a walk through and I'm by no means an expert but I'll give you my 2 cents seeing I just finished the game. Outside the cathedral don't hang around the enclosed area where your ammo and armor pop up, in fact, get as far away as you can, it make take a few tries cause of the meteors, but I found it much easier to attack with rockets, cannon, minigun etc from a distance then move in to the enclosed area when you get a chance to stock up on goodies.

Inside the cathedral save save save, this was a bitch just direct as much fire as posssible, cannons first, at the boss and run like hell....good luck

apoppin-

It's a combination strategy/tactics game. Set in ~1500 Japan. You have a Risk-type strategy board, fighting other clans to take over provinces, building up resources, then, when you invade a province, it goes to a real-time battle screen. As many as 960 v. 960 troops in each battle. "Take the high ground" is very quickly learned.

They will be coming out with Total Wars: Medieval, which will span 400 years of European warfare. Vikings, Crusades, etc.

Sorry, not FPS.

I just played SSSE on my lan with my nephew. We played coop, one or two levels above tourist. Got killed alot, but just double clicking to bring you back is nice. We only had a couple hours, so we were just experimenting, and trying to see as much of the game as possible. Both of us liked it, and realize that if we take our time, the parts we went thru are do-able. I liked that there didn't seem to be alot of puzzles and the sniper function was nice.

Now.....to give my GF a shot at playin' later this week. That'll be the real test. :)

Thanks guys....

My GF and I played til 2am last Thurs night/Fri. a.m. I hadda tell her it was time to put down the mouse and beer and go to bed. So, I guess she liked it. :) I don't think she had ever played a real computer game before. We played coop on easy. Did pretty well.....so, next time, we are gonna play to stay alive.

1. How much tuffer will Normal be than Easy?
2. I think on Normal, the monsters respawn once?
3. Are there hot keys for weapon selection?
4. She's already thinkin' strategy....her on flame thrower/chainsaw.....me on one of the big boy guns.
5. Can you adjust the mouse sensitivity in game? My Intellimouse was just way too flippy for her.

pcmax....my GF wasn't a gamer before she met me. She had a life. Well.....still does, but I make her take some kick back time. I started her out with Casino 6, and taught her BJ and craps, then a bit of HOMM 3, and now SSSE. But, she kept wantin' to read the bleedin' manual to see how to do things. NO....WE PLAY AND LEARN. Well.....I did promise to find her hotkeys for her weapons.

FredLocks is right on. DON'T stay in the middle, go way off past the cathedral walls, then watch as the idiot bots go towards the middle and get blasted by the meteors (actually I found they only did slight damage). Then sneak up and as a hoard sees you and comes after you start dropping grenades on their arse. Every once in a while, when the creatures seem to diminish in number, take a run for the middle and restock on ammo and health, then get back to the outside.

Also, every once in awhile a creature pops up around your area, but not enough to cause much damage before you spot him and kill him.

As far as the cathedral, I will just say two things: find the pink secret and get the speed boots as often as possible. Their are a couple of other things that are unique to this boss, but I don't want to spoil everything.
