Serious Sam 2 on ATi GPU

Hi

I ran the game with my CPU at 2.55 and using mem divider 333 1T.
It was lagging, bad enough to be worse than unplayable. The game was fine at 10X7 Med with rare stuttering, but it was really really bad at higher settings. This is worse than my 6600GT. CCC - default settings.
It was the demo version.

I am facing lagging problems with MW demo as well, though it is no so severe.

Other games also may have a slight problem but not all games have the problem.

I am using a generic cabinet, had opened the case while playing.
I am using 1 X 80mm exhaust fan, 1 X 80mm fan close to the hdd, tt bh, 2 fans with cabinet.

Please help.

Oh boy, here we go again.

more details from the OP . . . new build? . . . former videocard?
[6600GT . . . you DID use Driver Cleaner to REMOVE all TRACES of nVidia Drivers?]

WHAT is your PS . . . it HAS to be 'beefy'.

dump the O/C . . . run it at STOCK speeds and default. 😛

. . . and "reinstall your OS" usually works
[if everything else fails]:Q

😀

finally . . . . 'forget' demos and use games to test your rig. 😉

Reread your post and this time speak english because you sound like an idiot.

Only CPU and RAM are overclocked, RAM is only slightly overclocked.

1)Can using the computer for long hours cause that issue?

2)Can highly overclocked CPU cause that issue?

3)Can over heating cause that issue?

3D MARK 06 : 5000+
05 : 10600+
03 : 17900 or so

Let me try ONCE again . . . back EVERYTHING back to DEFAULT!
[and i promise, for the 'last time']

you are good at asking vague questions . . . and THEN you just ignore the advice. 😛

. . . perhaps you need to figure it out for yourself 😉

good luck . . . and aloha
[no, yes and yes]

You know...you'd get less remarks if you don't post threads that states something about such and such being bad on ATI or x1x00 is crap...when it's specifically your unique problem. Anyways, what drivers are you using and any screenshots with fraps to show this crappy performance?

1)CAT 6.8 with .NET 1.1, did have problems while installation. Cancelled it half way through. Uninstalled it through windows and then installed it again. Even .Net installation may have not been in the correct order.

2)This thread hasn't mentioned this is crap or that is crap.

3)I will try stock hardware.

4)Overclocking through bios only. 2.54 @ 1.57V with ttbh

Tried hardware stock

MW demo: There was something, not that kind of lagging as before which had kind of gone, but the game wasn't smooth @ 2GHz I feel.

SS2 demo: Things were much better, but again it wasn't fast/snappy enough or smooth enough as you say to play. I think some amount of overclock is required.

What does all this mean.

Should I try lower volts with lower overclocks.

What frames are you getting, post screenshots. Those two games shouldn't be crushing your cpu, even at the stock 2ghz. Frankly, I've never really feel that a cpu overclock really does anything much for games, unless of course you're talking a huge overclock. But since your cpu is still very capable, it might just as well be your hardware not working well together. Also, have you defrag your computer and what's your pagefile size set at?

1)Just installed XP, should I still defrag?

2)Windows defauult pagefile size.

3)At stock, my lagging problem was 50% gone but was 50% there all the same. What could be the reason? Also, 25%+ is not exactly a small difference, it was like comparing AMD 64 4000 to 3200

He lost all credibility with me when he started recommending X1900XTs in every topic, seemingly not even considering his own experiences.

you got 1 outta 4 😛

back early from work and less cranky than before i left . . . 🙂

You PS may not be enough for your O'cd system

the fact that your had improvement when your system went to default seems to indicate there is an error in setup - double check your BIOS and perhaps Reinstall XP . . . perhaps there was an error or you messed up a MB driver.

Game DEMOS are NOT generally reliable for testing Rigs - and may be buggy . . . only use fully PATCHED games. 😉

Finally. your CPU is not DC [is it?] . . . SS2 still has problems with Dual-core

FINALLY what are your 1) Case, 2) CPU and 3) XTX temps? Many cases are designed to cool better CLOSED.
