How can it be that bad with an ATi card?
Because even those super duper ATI card's are dependent on system stability and drivers.
OP, you shouldn't be overclocking. In fact, and I'm sure others would agree, you shouldn't even be putting together a computer rig yourself because everytime you run into a problem you only do 1/4 or what we tell you to do.
CAT 6.8 with .NET 1.1, did have problems while installation. Cancelled it half way through. Uninstalled it through windows and then installed it again. Even .Net installation may have not been in the correct order.
If you installed CAT's 6.8's, then you've installed .NET 1.1 at least.

It was a reference to your other thread blaming the engineers at ATI and their X1900XT product.
Regardless, you need help and that's what these forums are for. I'm going to list things for you in order to try and keep you from selectively picking each piece of advice you want to listen/respond to.
[*]Make sure all of your hardware is at original specs through your bios. (Reset your CMOS)
[*]Do a fresh install of Windows
[*]Install motherboard drivers. (Chipset, ethernet, etc.)
[*]
Install .NET Framework
[*]
Install CATALYST 6.8 Drivers
[*]Install desired games
[*]Patch desired games
[*]Install periphial drivers (If you need to. Wireless keyboard, mouse, etc.)
[*]
Install FRAPS
If the problem persists, give us game setting examples and screenshots with the framerate when the problem is at hand.
