"Our second generation Serious Engine allows us to create characters with over 100 times more detail than the last game," added Roman Ribaric, CEO of Croteam Ltd, developers of Serious Sam II. "This has allowed us to create huge, lush environments and even crazier enemies than before, without having to scale back the gameplay in any way. Gamers can rest assured that with the capabilities of our new engine, we're not only going to match the record we set with the first Serious Sam for the most enemies on screen at one time, we're going to surpass it."

Serious Sam summary: Walk into room, lots of nasties appear, circle strafe until all are dead, walk into next room....
Great mindless fun!

The total Chaos of the Serious Sam games is what sets them apart. I remember when I first played it, it felt like Doom on steroids. I remember battling monsters and hearing those suicidal headless men screaming, knowing full they were getting closer. Quite the adrenaline rush.

I cant read the article, everything is blocked here at work, but man i cant wait... i loved the first 2... i really hope they keep it at $20 bucks... that was one of the best parts of the first 2 games...

100x more detailed, even being years after the original was release. If they can pull this off and keep the same insanse speed, pace of the first then it will own. SS was so fast, it got a bit repetitive, but it was never slow for more then a few seconds.

I second the headless bomb men, they owned 🙂

Right on dude! Reminds me of the adrenaline rush when I hear them coming "ahhh!!!" 😀

I am very excited about SS2. The first two installments are among my all-time favorites.

And I also like the headless suicide bombers, you knew you were in for trouble when you heard a crowd of them approaching... 😛

Great mindless fun!

the apex of "twitch shooters" . . . there wan't a single puzzle that needed thought in the first or second encounter . . . some nice 'hidden stuff' (including the Smart Bomb).

The only recent game that came "close" to the Sam series is PainKiller (and it has a lot more depth and difficult puzzles).

Shipping This Fall 🙂
(i knew it)

i remember playin SS with two of my buddies cooperatively, and at some point i checked the stats, and the number of MY total kills were in the thousands! the three of us totaled together was well over 10,000 kills if i remember correctly

such an insanely fun game to play with the buddies; can't wait for the next one

Sweet, can't wait. The most annoying enemy for me in SS is those damn skeleton antelope things or whatever the hell they were. They would come at you in groups of 20 million sometimes.
