If a girl goes off the pill for say a week, then gets back on it... how long does it take to be in full effect again? Is this okay to do?

From what i've read, isn't the girl supposed to take it everyday at the same time? If that isn't done, then the effectiveness goes down. If she stops for a whole week, i doubt it would be useful at all.

Ouch....damn Dave. You obviously missed your true calling as a motivational speaker. ;)

Spooner: I actually don't really know the answer to your question, but I'd have the girl speak to her GYN rather than poll a bunch of nerdy virgins and get 15 differing answers. A correct answer from a qualified source is warranted when you're potentially talking about parenthood. :)

believe me, this is by no means my definitive source for knowledge on women-related issues, but i know some of ya get out of the house more than once a year, so i figured i'd throw it out there.

erikiksaz........ obviously, she's supposed to take it every day, but she ran out and the doctors are closed for labor day weekend, and we;re going on vacation. I know you can stop and go back on, but i dont know how long you have to take the pill every day again in order for it to be fine. I also don't know of the health risks. I've heard 2-4 weeks is safe, but not entirely sure.

I have one of my crazy ideas again.

Why don't you buy a box of fuggin' condoms until she can get back on the pill again?

Is she misses more than two days, she's supposed to scrap the rest of the pack and start over at the beginning of her next cycle. If she doesn't start at the beginning of her cycle, planned parenthood recommends using an extra method of birth control for the forst week she's back on the pill.

<- serious answer.

After missing 2 pills in a row she's supposed to scrap the rest and start on a new cycle.
From then, it takes one month.

Some people may say 2 weeks or whatever, but personally I don't need any mini-me's running around anytime soon.

Actually his answer was the correct one.Your g/friend will need to call her Doctor for instructions and an appointment for a new prescription,it'll probably be a full cycle till she's protected by the pill again.

It will definately take a full month of taking the pill before it is effective again.
