Hi All,

Couldnt get on my other computer and forgot my password, so had to create a new username, usually go by KingT but anyways :)

I was using my computer fine this morning, save for the blue screen of death, everything was fine... I logged off, shut my computer down and went to bed...

I got up and turn my computer on, The lights inside light up, the fans start spinning, however I get no beeps, I get no video, I cant open my CD/DVD drives, I cant push the reset switch and power switch, I have to manually shut it down by pulling the plug or hit the switch in the back of the power supply..

It wont turn off by the switches in the front of the pc, the motherboard has a light that turns green, the fans go and the lights work, but everything else doesnt.. I opened the case, I took out the video card, unplugged the hard drives, took the bio's battery out, took the ram out and reset it back in...

Put everything and nothing, how can it die in a matter of hours? is it the motherboard? powersupply? I dont know, its got me stumped and im usually good with things like this, was hoping someone out there could help me...

Thanks

1st - pull the ram out. turn computer on. see if you get the same results

2nd - pull the cpu out. turn the computer on, see if you get the same results

if you can't get the computer to beep after the above two tests, it is most likely is a bad mobo.

Pulled the ram out, didnt get anything from the mobo

Pulled the cpu out, and it said no cpu installed, no cpu installed, I have the Asus K8N-E motherboard...

Put the cpu back with no memory and no voices, system is still down, cant figure out what is causing it, can you try the video card without a cpu? see if you get a picture? what could be causing this? bad mobo? bad cpu? bad ram? bad psu? ...

Thanks, just want to get the system back :)

hope someone understands the problem

Ill try and get some parts from friends, dont see that happening anytime soon.. It seems the only life I can get out of the system is to yank the cpu out, then it says "cpu not installed" etc...

If you had to narrow it down, could ram stop the video from displaying and making it not boot up?, maybe I could try one and then the other, dont know... Could it be the Mobo? Ram? or Cpu? if you had to guess and I couldnt try other parts in it...

What is neweggs policy on returns?, anyone know? I Bought the system in August 2004, hasnt been a full year yet?, Could I return it for a new mobo? thanks all

Newegg won't RMA anything that old. They usually give 30 days max, then you have to go to the manufacturer. You will need to contact ASUS if you plan to RMA the MB.
As for it not booting, you're only real options at this point is to try new/different hardware in this computer and/or try your current hardware in a known working computer. Or take it to a computer shop and have them test the parts individually.
I definitely feel your pain here as I have been thru a few very similar experiences. Best of luck.

What could I test in another computer, these computers are Intel and the problem one is AMD.. I Doubt its the Video Card, Power supply... testing the motherboard/cpu/ram in another system is the same thing as testing it in my own ? I dunno...

If they both use DDR RAM, then you can swap the RAM. I would also try to swith the VC and PSU. You really need to try everything you can to eliminate it for sure.

Hmm, if that's the only AMD computer you have the only thing you can test is the RAM, which is easy to test. You can't really test the motherboard or CPU unless you take it to a friend's house or a PC store to test.
