Have you run the windows install disc and let it repair startup? Did you have a saved image of the drive so you could restore it? I wouldn't think you corrupted your windows install that fast but maybe you did. Have you tried taking the battery out for a couple minutes?

Nevermind I know what it is. You probably had the bios to use drives as ahci and when you reset bios it is using drives as IDE and that will cause what you're saying. I can guarantee that's the problem. Google it cause I don't know the fix off the top of my head. I know 100% that's what it is.

tried the repair more than 5 times already. Right now I am restoring the partition image from an external HDD, let's see how it goes.

PS: I used to get the AHCI bsod problem in windows xp but now I have win 7 installed and after resetting the bios it DID change to IDE mode and when it asked me whether I wanted to use AHCI I chose Yes but I don't think that is the reason. Because I have tried without IDE mode as well(by simply choosing fail safe defaults) and I still get bsod. Going to search for the fix anyway to see what I get, would appreciate if you could point me to the right direction.

UPDATED: Recovery task just finished but still the same problem. After getting to the Starting Windows screen it says windows unable to load and lets me choose to repair it but that doesn't help and the cycle continues ... so frustrating :(

This (unrepairable harm to your OS) is always a danger when overclocking, especially when you are biting huge chunks off at a time like you were, and especially without understanding what the system was doing.

Why don't you just use the sticky in the topics of this sub-forum? That's a friendly suggestion, as it will answer many of your questions :)

It's not like I haven't corrupted an OS over clocking before.... :p

sorry if this comes off as a bit blunt.

before you dump anymore time and money into the system, i really doubt that the nvidia northbridges can support FSB speeds north of 1333MHz.

to run at 3.0 you would need 400MHz(1600MHz) FSB, i find that a bit of a stretch with the nvidia mch.

sorry nvidia, but you suck at making chipsets after nf2. (nvidia bought ALi, or AcerLabsInc a few years ago, which now makes their "low end" chipsets)

maybe for that system the e8400 was your best bet out of those two chips. i would return the q8300 if you can get a full refund.

I am going to trash the fcuking mobo and sell the Q8300 as soon as I get the parts for the partial new build ( http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2154369 ). Going to microcenter to buy i5-2500k today.

NO more overclocking experiments. It's a waste of time, energy and money.

Thanks to everyone who responded here and tried to help.

I got i5-2500k for the Intel HD Graphics 3000 since I won't be getting a discrete graphics card. Also, I just picked it up from Microcenter for ~$196 (includes taxes) which is lower than the price of i5-2500 if you look it up online for a new retail unit.

^ Glad you have a plan for the 2500k. Just make sure you get a motherboard that supports the graphics (H61/H67), not a P67 overclocking board.
