yet what you were doing all night was worse?

I could see if they were shooting smack or smoking crack etc, but POT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I don't see the problem here. Didn't you read his post? He doesn't care if someone does it, he just didn't want to be around it. Wha'ts wrong with that? He didn't say they were going to hell for doing it, he just didn't want it in his system. Some people can't have it in their system if their job does drug testing. Maybe he just doesn't like pot. Nothing wrong with that.

feeble.
he could have went into another room.

Yea, for you pot heads that's a good solution, but believe it or not that smoke carries throughout the entire place. I can smell a smoker that is in another room 20 feet away. I can smell a pothead in another room at least 30 feet away. That stuff stinks. When you are actually smoking that stuff, you don't realize it. I would go to a friend's house and the moment you walked in there, you could tell pot was smoked in there. Going in another room will not help at all. I'm not trying to say anything about potheads, just that they don't realize how the smoke moves and being in another room does not help.

driving while under the influence can do a whole sh!tload more damage than a little second-hand pot smoke.

I was in quite a predicament tonite, and I want to know what you all think.

I was out tonite. I had been drinking with some friends, and we had hit a few bars. I know the consequences of drinking/driving. But more than any advertisement, any thing anyone has told me, more than my friends had ever said to me.....the thing that affected me the most was this. (Grotesque Images.) It's the story of a girl that had been affected by a drunk driver. Something that has been posted before a few times, and forwarded around on emails.

Well, my dilemma. My friend said I could crash at his place tonite. And I was ready to. But....I get back to his place, and his friends come over, and they start "smoking up." Now, I don't care if people do that, I just don't want to be a part of it. I don't want to be around it, I want nothing to do with it, and I don't want it in my system. But.....they were doing it. And I hadn't drank in a while, but to me there was no reason to chance it. So, I wanted to leave. I called everyone else I knew, to find a place to crash, but noone was picking up their phone. So, I was forced to make a decision.

What would you have done in my shoes??

MODS: I'm sorry if you think this might be inapporpriate, but I REALLY want to know what other people would have done. I, in NO WAY, condone any illegal activities, and am very much against it. That's where the dilemma comes into play. Please understand I really just want to know what other people think I should have done???

ALL you had to do was to go outside... or go to another room.

Call AAA and have them tow your car to a nearby motel. Sleep there. (assuming tow charges are free)

Seriously, its not like they would be smoking it all night. Just because you can smell it doesn't mean its getting into your system.

I have slept in my car many times...not really cozy but better than getting in an accident.

I have also called a cab once or twice.

Really simple decision could have been made here. If you decide to leave you call a cab or attempt to get a ride. If you cannot afford a cab or find anyone to give you a ride then you must stay there for a while. Depending on how much you had to drink, eat some food, drink some water and after you feel completely sober(depending on how much you drank and the time elapsed) you then drive home. If you have had too much to drink and realize you will not sober up in 4-6 hours to drive home, you go outside until they finish smoking. If they are smoking for too long and it is too cold, go back in and go into another room. Once they are done go to sleep and wait until the mornign to drive home.

Simple. You make choices based upon your circumstances and what you have the ability to do.

I would have found a diner in walking distance, sat at the bar, ordered some coffee and sucked it up for a night. 1 dollar for coffee 5 dollars tip and then walk to your car sober.

my rule is I dont drive after I've had ANYTHING to drink for a while....

good suggestions were

1) going outside till they were done
2) calling the cops and getting a ride
3) walking to a nearbye diner

if he was in there long enough to smell like pot he was probably in there long enough to get it in his system anyway

if he had a full tank of gas he could have sat in his car with the heater on and taken a 3 hr nap to sober up, I've slept in my car for an hour with the heat on and it didnt take much gas.

Never sleep in your car while intoxicated. If a police officer decides to check on you he can give you a breathalizer test and you would be considered as Driving under the influence. Even if the car is off and you are in the back seat asleep. I would have just stuck around and gone in the back room or something. I don't smoke any type of substances, so I would have been in your shoes.

I have a pretty high tolerance to alcohol, but if i have had more than two beers, i will not drive that night...

It's not how you feel, it's a fact that even after fairly small amounts of alcohol your reactions are slower...

But i would never go out to drink if i didn't know how i would get home so...

Look up a local Alcoholics Anonymous phone number or even Campus Safety if you are a college student

Any of those groups have someone who will come and get you and probably for free.

Walk to a Restaurant and Drink TONS of coffee and make the RIGHT decison.

My Mother almost killed both of us with her Drunk Driving
Her acceptance of Drunk Drivers almost killed me again when she let me ride around with her Alcoholic Boyfriend and we crashed a van into a Giant Oak Tree

Well, I DID NOT know that it hosted on a porn site, I assure you.

I got that link from a previous thread here.

I changed the link.

But here's what I did. And the reason I didn't tell anyone yet, is cuz at first I felt like my only two options there were to either stay or drive home. I guess for me, I don't really think about making a solution, you know?

What I did:

When I thought I was totally "OK" to drive home, I went to my car. And I slept. Yeah, it was 22 freaking degrees, but I slept for an hour in my car. Set my phone to wake me up. Did that, then walked a half mile to a "Waffle House." Sat there, ate a sandwich, had a few cups of coffe, then walked back, then drove home.

The reason I didn't put down 'sleeping in my car' and stuff as an option, is because it's not something I would immediately think about, you know? But that's what I did.

If anyone really cares.

All in all, I did the best I could, and I was one hundred percent ok to drive. I was at that Waffle House for about 45 minutes as well.
