SErial Connection To RT314

For people who have the RT314 and have connected to the manager inteface via serial connection...

I messed up the configs of my router and cannot access my manaager interface from FTP. HTTP or Telnet. So now i went out and got a serial cable and proceeded to access the manager interface.

However, I got to the power cycle part and the router showed the RAM booting, and then it says press any key to enter the debug screen, and so i press a random key, but the thing just keeps going and doesn't enter the debug screen. then when it stops it says press ENTER to continu so i press enter and nothing happens.

So my questions are:

Is my router completely messed up beyond repair?
Is there somthing wrong with my Terminal Emualtion PRogram (I use HyperTerminal)?
Do I have the correct serial cable?

For those who have done the serial connection can you give me some advice, I desperately need this router back up...

If you're getting text at all, your connection is fine... What exactly did you do to the thing? Bad firmware flash? I misflashed my firmware on my RT314 (flash seemed okay, but router was dead after), and was still able to Hyperterm in to reflash that way... I can't imagine what you've done that could have messed up worse (short of physical damage).

IIRC, there's a command you can enter when it says 'press any key to enter debug screen' that takes you to the menu to reflash the firmware. Netgear tech support can send you this information. See if you can reflash the thing (firmware, and default settings file), that'll put it back like it came out of the box. If that doesn't help, you're screwed.

Good luck!
