The case I am looking to buy is the Antec Sonata and I have read that it lacks Serial ATA power connectors. I am also buying a WD 36 GB Raptor to run as my primary drive. Do I need Serial ATA power connectors to be able to run the hard drive? From what I saw it just requires one of the 12v connections.

Thanks.

What are the benefits of an SATA power connector over molex? Why would they bother putting it on if they can have it use molex?

Hot-swap capability. The pins on Serial-ATA power connectors are a mix of short and long - which means that the power pins are grounded before any other pins are connected. Difficult to explain, that one :)

Anyway, it's entirely pointless unless you want a uniform look.
