Are serial ATA hard drives available? I'm looking for a 120GB version. I found Seagates ST3120023AS model listed, but nobody has it.

There are many sites that list them, but no one has them in stock. Is the technology just coming out?

From what I've read around the net, you can expect to see them in stores closer to the end of january / early feb..not much longer!!!

they were suppose to be shipped out Jan 15th, so we should probably see a few next week to those who preordered.

I've got my SIIG controller card, now I'm waiting for the drives to come out.

I'm replacing my U160 hard drive (under XP = yech) with it... I could go ATA100, but I figure I'll try out the new SATA first.

*drools while waiting for SATA and Springdale*.... Been looking to build a new desktop (since mine died 8 months ago), but been really REALLY waiting for SATA and Springdale chipset. Only a few more weeks for SATA and a few months (hopefully only 2) for Springdale. But my laptop is chugging along, and I mean chugging.... click, click, click, click, as the hard drive tries to find the 400 megs of free space left.

Let me know how the Seagate V's are. They seem to be sweet from reviews/benchmarks. Just wondering how quiet and hot they really run...
