What does this driver do??

I've had it crash my system several times, so I just renamed it to serenum.bak. Now I don't have anymore BSOD's, but I was wondering what installed/uses it??

PNPlay serial device dynamic detection driver, like a mouse or tablet. Well known bug, usually from Win 95 (or update). Supposed to rename serenum.000 (serial enumerate)in DOS, but I guess .bak is good enough, right?
