I can't believe it sold that many coming out on the 25th, if it would have came out in the first of Sep it probably would have broke 5 million!

At first I was surprised by the amount the 360 sold...then I remembered that Halo 3 was released in September.

Yep, all in Japan that were interested bought one, which means in about a month and a half the used market in japan should be flush with 360's again 😉

I don't know, I think most of the people who wanted it bought it right when it came out.

Edit: well, they're selling 300k a week now so you're not far off.

It will be interesting to see if the 360 can sustain those numbers through the holidays and what kind of jump the $400 PS3 will give Sony.

Agreed. From a business standpoint...this holiday season will be really interesting with MS sticking with their price drop and Sony dropping the $400 dollar machine. I really think Sony sales will go up big time for the holidays. MS really needs to drop the price of the upcoming "Xbox 360 Arcade" to under $250 in my opinion. Including Forza 2 and Marvel Universe should help as well.

I'm wondering if MS execs are thinking they need to drop the prices for the 360 again after the $400 PS3.

Why would they? Holiday season, Halo 3 bringing in mad console sales + software sales...I don't think MS will hit 500K+ consoles for the next 3-4 months, but it seems like a lock to do 400K+ per month the next few months through the holiday. It makes zero sense from a business perspective to fvck yourself out of $50 of revenue per console. To put it in perspective, that $50 for September's console sales = $26.4 million.

They shouldn't feel pressured to drop the price until probably next year.
